JR is a better fit than Wade.
They already have Kyrie and Lebron who can slash. Unless Wade becomes a reliable 3pt shooter he doesnt make them any better.

Similar logic could be applied to durant on the Warriors and it would make more sense
Wade is better than JR on any team.

wade duplicates Kyrie Irving.
Undersized SG that can get to rack whenever they want to, only Kyrie is a far better outside shooter.
I like Wade but the guy is overrated.
Doesn't matter though. He isn't passing up 40 million on the table. He's staying in Miami.

Wade would improve the Cavs if he can remain healthy.

Wade does make the Cavs better. WTF is wrong with you? :wtf: Experience alone, and having played with James before makes him a deadly signing for the whole league.

JR Smith has experience and has played and won a title with Lebron before.
Explain how he makes them better. It's another ballhandler that doesnt fill a need. If he came off the bench it would but he won't.

He makes better if all they lose is shumpert. He'd be a clear upgrade over him. But if you ask me who would I rather have between jr and wade on the cavs I'd take jr everyday of the week. He creates more spacing, is a much better defender, is younger and healthier.

What don't you understand?
I know Wade is a better player. I'm talking about how they FIT on the team, and JR is a better fit.

He's not going to Cleveland but wade does make them better...
It would be more frustrating for Kyrie's development. I ultimately believe Lebron and Wade are busting Riley's balls to cough a little more money.
Riley would HATE to see Wade in Cleveland and knowing that despite the fit, that's still talent that will beat his team and everyone in the east.
Riley is alpha, but I can't see him conceding Wade to Cleveland. Bron and Wade know this. Smart move.
Probably will get a 2 year deal at 24 mill or 3 year deal at 20.

I was under impression they wanted to keep JR even if they added Wade.

Wade is 34 now and for someone at this age, he can be totally washed up at anytime. Teams dont want to take such risks.

True, but you forget that LeBron right now as it stands is a free agent that just brought a championship to Cleveland. Wade is his best friend. You don't think LeBron has any leverage here on what he says he wants?

This is what i have been asking!
There is no doubt Wade is much better than JR as a player, but what does wade bring to the cavs that Kyrie and JR don't already bring? It's redundant to get wade and not cost effective. Go after an elite defender or bigman

GM's would laugh at these idiots saying "Nah dont take Wade, JR is better". LOL

I will answer. JR is better 3 point shooter then Wade, but Wade is the superior player in attacking the rim. Against Golden State you need the second, not the first. Golden State dont have rim protection, so you gotta abuse them there. Shooting 3s is playing to Golden State hands.
This will make Cavs worse maybe in other series out East, but Cavs are making the finals in the east without JR or Wade.

I dont think 'Friendship' is that important for Lebron. Lebron plays to win, he joined friends in Miami because it would indeed give him a solid chance to win NBA trophies. Once Wade was declining he quit Miami immediately, this should imply something. Sure Lebron and Wade are good friends, but at the end of the day Lebron wants competitive and suitable teammates. Is Wade a worthy teammate for him now? I dunno.

Is tyson chandler still a good rim protector?

Uh, no, you need both against Golden State. Let's not act like JR wasn't huge in Game 7 with his 3pt shot making.

A much better plan would be to go after boogie, but if the kings don't budge, go after tyson chandler. Then pick up some other minor pieces for your bench.
OKC already showed what size in the post can do to the warriors!

He is. The heat have been better defensively with him sitting for years now. We can post the number if you don't believe it. You're still thinking of young wade. This is 34 year old has to take games off because his knees are shot wade. You think Wade's chasing klay Thompson through screens for an entire game?

Plug Wade in with the second unit as a sixth man off the bench. I think he'd be great in that role.
Also have him out there as another closer late in games. Dude is clutch af.
well, he's not signing for the Cavs

I think so too, but let's not even pretend like he will want to come off the bench.

Wade wouldnt start in Cleveland
Cavs have issues when LeBron hits the bench
Kyrie - JR - LeBron - Love - Thompson
with Mo Williams - Wade-Shumpert-Frye leading the bench unit
Wade put up nice numbers starting last season he would still be able to torch bench lineups and give the Cavs the scoring punch they need
Cavs still should look to move Frye + Mo Williams for some kind of upgrade but Wade is a free ticket to the Finals which leaves the team the chance to focus on what is important which is defeating GS

This would be my suggestion to. Wade and Irving are two of the best Iso and clutch scorers in the game. Can you imagine those two on the the court late in the game?
Anyone doubting jr as a defender needs to look at the job he's done on klay Thompson the past two years. He's done as good of a job on him as anyone in the league has.

Come on he might not make the team good enough to win it all, especially since they'll lose some key free agents. But they are better with him than without him. I too believe J.R. has more value considering their needs. a 3pt who can take to the basket and he usually healthy unlike Wade. Plus J.R. played
terrific in the playoffs considering his standards.
