The Milwaukee Bucks, who were only in a position to clear about $17 million in cap space, are currently not in the bidding. Wade canceled a planned meeting with the Bucks, sources said.
Though there have been rumors that Wade is talking to the Cleveland Cavaliers, there is no traction between the parties, sources said. The Cavs currently have no cap space and could only offer their $3.4 million mid-level exception.
Thoughts? Thats Like Durants Contract.

Dude, the NBA is over. He either takes a max 50/2 with the Heat or signs for the MLE in Cleveland. Why would he take a 10-20mil paycut with the Heat when they have no chance anyways? It's amazing to think the Cavaliers could acquire a player in Wade and they'd still be the underdogs in the Finals. KD truly ruined this league.

Miami needs to dump salary to do this
Nuggets are the only team with capspace and they want Wade. Crossing my fingers

Not sure why people actually think he might be coming to Cleveland. This is his last big contract chance. He isn't going to take 3 million dollars.

Arison could pony up some money and pay the luxury tax. Dude is as cheap as they come, when it comes to spending money.

Yeah, but then they need to sign everyone else to the vets min. Being over the lux tax with only 6players locked up isn't a great situation

What about trades? Not much of a chance he can go anywhere after such a big contract, and the team can't get any major player if they waste their money.

Yeah, but my point is about Arison actually spending big money for once. Dude is cheap AF. Even when LeBron was in Miami. Wade is one of the main reasons as to why Miami is an elite franchise. Didn't Prokh pay like $100M in luxury taxes on a garbage ass team? I'm sure that Arison could afford to pay ~$60M in luxury taxes after all Wade has done for him.

Lol. He thought he REALLY was gonna get a Kobe deal from Pat Riley and Arison. F.uck outta here.
And he would be a horrible fit on the Cavs.
Dude definitely staying in the eastern conference though.

I doubt Pat would mind spending, considering the fact that Miami won't be a contender for the next to seasons minimum. Agree with your assessment of Arison though.

I understand that NBA is a business and all.... But man Arison is a cheap bastard. Dude's worth more than Dan Gilbert and Mark Cuban combined together iirc but Cuban and Gilbert has zero problems spending money to win a championship.
I bet you Arison wouldn't sign Tristan Thompson to that contract last year if he was the Cavs owner.... And the Cavs wouldve never won a championship.
He's worth it to the franchise. Still good for 20/5/5 too. Pay the man.

I'm pretty sure the issue is that the Heat are operating as a cap room team in order to have had money for Whiteside. That means renouncing basically everyone (including Wade), in order to have space for Whiteside. When you renounce a player you can't then use bird rights on the same player to pay them whatever you want. They will basically as is only have room for Wade around ~20 mil, a 2.9 mill room exception, and vet mins. Wade's basically negotiating to get rid of McRoberts (who sucks anyways but it's weird when they have like no players) or someone else so he can get more money.

Miami amnestying Miller to dump his salary and to save on luxury taxes was one of the reasons as to why LeBron left as well. Wade has also been taking pay cuts since forever. Dude never made $20M until last season.

I understand all that, but a salaried employee is taking pay cuts and the owner has never seen a loss since Wade was drafted, if I'm not mistaken. Arison is rich AF. 3rd richest NBA owner, IIRC. Paying ~$30M in luxury taxes wouldn't even cut too much into his teams generated profits.

I agree he has been cheap in the past, especially with Miller and I believe they didn't use some of their exceptions one of the Big 3 years. But in this scenario, they wouldn't be able to pay more. Seems odd for Wade to demand so much much they have to clear someone else out.

It sounds like he'll end up taking the 2/40 in Miami. Imo that's a good deal for him and very reasonable for the Heat. 2/50 is just too much, and this coming from a Wade fan. Not that he isn't capable of earning it, but it's too much of a gamble at this stage of his career.

What decent players ever wanted to come here? They have to reach the floor some way, 2-3 years contracts seems pretty smart.

Yeah the Heat offer is more than fair. I don't see anybody else offering 50m for 2 years.
If Wade wants to spend the rest of his career in NBA Siberia (Denver), for like 7 million more considering no state tax in Florida, then God speed lol. :lol

Denver is a far classier organization than Miami right now. They are treating their all time greatest player like crap.

I'm not sure why this is even up for discussion when mediocre talent like Evan Turner, Harrison Barnes, Allen Crabbe, and Nic Batum are all making $17+ million a year along with Conley making $30+ million a year.
Wade just average 19/5/4 last season so $25 million seems about right

The problem is you won't get that for 82 games plus playoffs from Wade. He's been injured a lot and he's going to miss more games. Also he's not a guy who's willing to work his ass off each and every night and carry a team on his shoulders. When it matters in the playoffs he will, but not on a nightly basis. So I'd say he's not worth that much money.

I hope he takes the nuggets offer, they might actually make the playoffs..
They've still got a ton of assets to trade they could put together a decent team..
Been in complete limbo since the melo trade

Neither being close to as good as Wade tho
I suspect Barton and Faried will be traded. Barton is literally the best contract in the league. 2 years left, 3 mill a year
