With this Durant signing, do you guys feel a little hopeless for your team for the coming years?

I mean, the Spurs got Gasol and I'm still not feeling too crazy on it. :durantunimpressed:

Next season?

The reason the Warriors and Spurs won so many games is because every team in the league practically quit besides the Cavs and Thunder.

If your a cavs/lebron fan you cant lose even with durant going to the warriors.

Lebron at worse is a top 3 GOAT
If they somehow pull it off this year he's the undisputed top 1 GOAT
If they lose then it was expected anyway and there's nothing to hang their head about.

The cavs have a bright future with Kyrie and Tristan Thompson
Not to mention their future stars in kay felder and cedi osman, jordan mcrae

They are set for the next decade and will contend for years to come.

Pretty much. If you're not the Warriors or Cavs, it's asking a lot to expect a championship. You guys do have a higher chance of making the conference finals now if that means anything.

I've lowered expectations for the next three. Only thing that can happen to prevent the next two -three years of warriors/cavs is a Lebron injury. That is it.

Let's put it this way. If I was a team that wasn't GSW/CLE/maybe SAS, I would feel like it's better to rebuild and aim to compete in a few years as opposed to trying to cobble together a makeshift group of former stars a la NYK.

Bigger picture though I feel like with the even further diminished league parity now, we're gonna start to see a lot more fans view seasons as 'just be watchable and maybe win a playoff series, anything else is gravy" as opposed to the win-or-bust mentality.

My expectations are lowered every season we spent without a star player

I'm a Lakers fan. My expectations haven't been high for 3 years now.

i expect lebron james to repeat but this time coming with the regular season most valuable player award. greatest player of all time after beating 2017 western conference allstars.

Excellent prediction brother. And Beastee is an idiot for wishing an injury to the 2nd greatest player of all time.

Do you even have a team you grew up liking or do you just register whatever team Lebron is on to be your team to root for? Just wondering.

Doesn't anyone get the weird feeling that the Warriors, in the end, won't be as good as anticipated (i.e., they'll be a playoff team of course, but maybe not multiple back-to-back championships)? ... I feel like it won't be a cakewalk for them despite their roster, or something will happen to their chemistry. idk.. having said that, for the Spurs I just want them to make the WCF at least, but even that feels kind of entitled. Just want the Spurs to have a smooth transition to a team without Duncan-Manu-Parker

Not really. Based on where the Jazz have been since the DWill/Boozer/AK47/Okur days, I'm pretty pumped about next year.

Nothing we could do this summer would have entered us into the contender discussion, but we have solidified the roster such that winning our division and getting a top 3-4 seed are not unrealistic goals.

Warriors and Spurs are still clearly better, but after that, I think the West is wide open.

Dante Exum/George Hill/Shelvin Mack
Rodney Hood/Alec Burks
Gordon Hayward/Joe Johnson
Derrick Favors/Trey Lyles
Rudy Gobert/Boris Diaw

Solid 10-man rotation that should be fun to watch. Excellent defense, more than enough offense if you have an excellent defense. No reason this can't be a 50-win, tough out in the second round team. I'll take that at this point.

Nope, we making the playoffs this year. We have Davis, Jrue and Buddy as our core. If we can get another star like Cousins, we could be a serious contender within the next 5 years.
