This is what happens when you let big babies get too much ego and too much money and big business takes over.

NBA Basketball may never recover or be the same again.

I hope you guys enjoy this watered down version of basketball. I myself will remember the times where players gave a shit about proper legacies, without having to skip steps to achieve them.

I'll still watch for the flash value, but TBH these cats don't play for legacies anymore. This is basically a shameless All Star getogether where a few teams has 90% of the talent.

So true

LeBron leaving his home team to join the top 2nd and 4th players in the league is what made most of these kids fans of the game

Now KD leaves to play with only 1 of the top 5 players of the game and they say it's unfair

Very hypocritical

The karma is real

Legacies are stupid to begin with. They play a child's game, and get paid lots of money for it. No one particularly cares in the long run. As long as you provide some entertainment now, and some shit I can bring up with mates occasionally, then you've done your job as a basketballer. I don't think I've ever discussed a players legacy, career or their ranking, EVER, when talking about basketball with friends. It isn't the players who are wrong, it is the fans and media, and how they view success in the league.

Charles Barkley and Karl Malone will be players I always consider some of the best ever, yet due to the "rings are everything" bullshit that has become so popular, these guys get smack talked about them as if they weren't champions.

Players now feel as if they have to team up to appease this ring talk, and get recognised as great. Michael Jordan could have won a single ring, and he still would have been one of the top 5 players ever if you really want to break down his impact on the court. Same with guys like Wilt, Shaq and Bron. It is blatantly obvious they play the game a level above everyone else and are in that top 5 bracket, regardless of how much they win.

So yeah, blame the fans. You can't sit here, have a conversation with me, tell me Kobe Bryant for example is rated higher than Shaq due to more rings, and not have any context in regards to Kobe putting up 15ppg on 37% shooting in one of those championship runs for example. You can't sit here and tell me, Jason Kidd's stock as a player went up when he won a ring in 2011, as if it undoubtably put him as a better PG than Payton, Nash or Stockton for example. It is still a debate.

Thats because you have a scrub mentality aka a loser. Once you become a star, legacy matters a lot. Thats why players would never dare collude. These guys want to be respected or else kobe wouldnt kick shaq out if rings is the only thing that matters

Or to avoid the humiliation of finishing a career without a ring as the star of the team.

Or maybe they just want a ring and the celebrations/parties that come with it.

Plus their agents and the media prop up their ego and tell them they are worth more to another team.

there shouldn't be humiliation for finishing your career without a ring as a star unless you constantly play poorly in the playoffs and are on teams that should've won. Some of the hate that Durant got was deserved after the Warriors series but he was being treated like some perennial playoff choker which he's not. There were fans on here who say they couldn't trust Durant etc which was ridiculous. The 2nd part is really only true for guys who are near the end of their careers and/or don't have legacies to worry about.

You preferred the days when players were trapped on the teams that drafted them?

Great alternative!

There has rarely been parity in the NBA, and "superteams" have always existed, you think things were better off when small market organizations had zero chance of competing, while LA and Boston had the best players under lock and key?

Nobody cares if you don't like it, you are probably growing out of it, the NBA is entertainment first and foremost, don't get it confused, of course they are chasing dollars instead of integrity, how stupid are you? (Very!)

"Proper legacies"

Let the tears flow you whiny b!tch!

Durant did everything he could for OKC, don't act like he wasn't trying his hardest, he came up short and wanted to start fresh, whats wrong with that?

the main reason guys "collude" is for their legacies. It's our fault and the media we put such a big emphasis on rings.

Thing is, it's not just legacy, but it's the fact that context doesn't matter. Once people realized that (and that sure, people will be upset at first, but then get over it), it was just like let's go... group up and win rings.

There are a lot of issues, how you can have x amount of max contracts and still have money to pick up all of these vet min guys. It would be nice if they made it so that you had to have your salary spread a certain way. So you couldn't have like 5 superstars and 10 journeymen/rookies.

I think this new cap will settle in. I think there will eventually be rules made to prevent this... but yea, the Cs, Bron 1, Bron 2. Now GSW... it's one of those things that you don't get mad at because you hope it actually allows people to see the broken system.

And real talk, since they had the money... why would they not do it? Why would the Warriors not want it, either? People said it was like Shaq going to the Bulls, well imagine this... imagine the Bulls just won 72 games, Shaq was a free agent, and they had cap space, all they had to do was dump off Luc Longley and Kukoc. You think people would have been like... nah wait... competitive balance. haha. You think Shaq, an obviously competitive person, would have cared... or that, if there was a free agent market of say 5 high profile guys, that one of them wouldn't have chosen to go there?

The issue is with the system. It's not really a point because the Bulls didn't have 25 million (or whatever) in cap space, and if they did... bet like they wouldn't have signed some studs.

Baseball is dying, the high earnings are thanks to an aging and rich white fanbase, pretty simple stuff.

The NBA is more popular on every form of social media and in viewership ratings, don't kid yourself!

The MLB twitter only has 5 million followers compared to the NBA's 22 million.

People don't watch baseball and they sure as hell aren't outside playing it!

Then you have the audacity to mention SOCCER, a sport that is completely irrelevant in the United States?

Retard please!

Collusion has propelled the NBA to new heights whether you like it or not, controversy sells and casual fans need big names to cling onto, I suggest you familiarize yourself with the business side of basketball before spouting off false statements like a true dumbass, but that is in your nature so I can't blame you for making a fool of yourself!

Lol bro im a business graduate. I know why nfl, mlb, and soccer are more successful despite being less entertaining Coz only kids and idiots like you loves to watch this wwe'ish like league. Ever since ive found out wrestling is fake, ive never watched that shit again and the same is true for nba.

So please, who cares if baseball is dying or soccer is irrelevant in the us. What matters is they earn more so their business strategy is better. And if your dumb idea is better, how come wwe doesnt earn more than mlb? Lol

And oh they have parity while nba with collusion means predictable so its no surprise it earns less

Basketball is more popular but doesnt bring the revenue. And theres only one reason for that, mismanagement. Only kids like you love this colluding culture andd wwe'ish like nba.
