How great is Kobe that the league barred him from teaming up with a 5"11 midget

The league held out for a better deal and got one...

You are really stupid. The NBA owned the Hornets during that time. And it was terrible trade for both teams. And the Lakers did acquired Nash from the Suns. Kobe cannot win an NBA title without Phil Jackson.

Lamar Odom, Kevin Martin, Goran Dragic, Luis Scola and a first-round draft pick (from Houston via the Knicks) to the Hornets.

or

The Clippers will send guard Eric Gordon, center Chris Kaman, forward Al-Farouq Aminu and Minnesota's unprotected 2012 first-round pick to the Hornets for Paul.

The Hornets got a potential franchise guy in Gordon instead (can't use hindsight!)

Gordon (at that time) > Odom
Minny's unprotected first > Knicks first rounder at the time.

1. The league doesn't currently all partly own the OKC Thunder
2. The OK Thunder aren't trading Durant, so nothing the league can do even if they owned the Thunder.

The league doesn't own the warriors, so they wouldn't be able to veto a trade/signing.

You clearly don't remember the incident because it had nothing to do with any sort of "collusion". The Hornets were offered a trade and since the NBA was majority owner of the team they had the right to say no to the trade.

No free agent signing has ever been vetoed, especially when the NBA doesn't own any teams and can't make any roster decisions on behalf of a franchise.

The owner of the team vetoed the trade. Happens all the time. Most of the time you never even hear about it.

You can't veto a player going to a team in free agency.

And we've been over the Paul trade before...it was shortsighted by the league and they didn't realize how it was a no win situation with Gordon.

Pay him and you have to way overpay a player that isn't close to good enough.

Don't pay him and you traded Paul for nothing.

Not going to get into all that again...I called it at the time and it went down exactly like I said. It was a terrible trade.

League went in full damage control knowing CP3 would help lead Kobe to his 6th ring
