View Full Version : Spurs would be a much better playoffs team with the addition of Pau Gasol.

2016 Pau Gasol is much better than 2016 Tim Duncan. The Spurs lacked another legit scoring threat outside of Kawhi, and Lamarcus. And Pau Gasol averaged 17 ppg, 11 rpg, and 2 bpg in the regular season, and in the playoffs.

I don't think Spurs are going to win 67 games, but they are going to be a more dangerous team in the post season.

Gasol - Aldridge will feast on the Warriors front court that have 0 rim protection.

I don't see them winning anything with Aldridge on that team. They won in 14 with crazy good ball movement. LA just bogs down the offense and takes contested jumpers.

true story bro. Cavaliers vs. Spurs rematch after 10 years. It's pay back time again.

Pop will find a way around that problem.

Duncan was still a legit scoring threat in the 2014 NBA playoffs.

All the Spurs need is a vet SF who can play Anderson's minutes, a backup PG like Cole or Chalmers, and maybe an athlethic, not slow on the feet C like Boban and they will look amazing.

Agree that Pau will help for sure, great player, but just want the Spurs to get younger. Gasol turned 36 today and I'm tired of Pop having to manage minutes almost solely because his older players will be worn out come playoffs. Needless to say, Pau joining SA while TD retires will be very bittersweet if it happens, even more bittersweet if they actually win the championship. I like Pau's experience, range, and defense, for sure

Yeah, as much fun as it is rooting for Boban, he's more of a circus act than actual help. They also need a proper backup for Kawhi (Is Corey brewer available?)

The Spurs will be currently close to drawing dead against the Warriors. Gasol won't be able to play against the death lineup...and they don't have a good enough guard defender to make it work.

Pop will come up with something of course, but this is not a good lineup to beat the Warriors.

Indeed, even though he can score like mad when given minutes. But in playoff games....oh boy.

Corey Brewer would be a godsend.

As usual, well said.

Gasol can't defend high PnRs. He just cedes space and gives open looks. That just isn't conducive to the current game. And CERTAINLY not to defending GSW.

Aldridge for Hezonja
Max Horford
Max Batum
Sign Dudley
Re-sign Manu
Retire Duncan

That's what Pop should have done.
