The only big difference is an improved Durant. The Warriors have fallen off a cliff in terms of their bench which gives multiple contenders the advantage in the playoffs. Cavs are still the most stacked team in the league by a comfortable margin.

Curry = Westbrook
Klay = Harden
Iggy = Thabo
Durant = Durant
Green = Ibaka

Reggie Jackson > Warriors bench

The overrating of Warriors depth needs to stop.

Each player on the Warriors is better, even 2016 Durant is > 2012 Durant, thanks for putting this into perspective.

It is wrong to equate the two, James Harden is a lot better than Klay Thompson

:no: Klay has proven to be a great scorer all on his own. Plus he is much better at defense. Klay is a much better player then Harden.

Not really. The team was stacked talent wise but Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant were trash and couldn't maximize the teams potential due to selfish style of play.

Stacked talent wise, but Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook were not able to maximize the full potential of the team.

But was Curry's MCL injury the differentiating factor which lowered Curry's production?

Think about this, guys ...

This team makes the 2016-17 Warriors look like junior varsity at best!

PG: Gary Payton
SG: Kobe Bryant
SF: Lamar Odom
PF: Karl Malone
C: Shaquille O'Neal

Bench: Horace Grant(!), Derek Fisher, Rick Fox, Devean George, Kareem Rush, etc

How did this team not win all 82 games and then go 16-0 in the playoffs?! They have Hall of Famers starting at four positions and great players like Horace Grant coming off the bench? It doesn't make any damn sense! What could have possibly led to that kind of raw talent not just ripping apart the league?! What makes this Warriors team different?

Surely, we aren't going to pretend like something trivial like age matters much if at all, are we?

the thunder were all moderately close to their current versions.. start of prime for all. half the Lakers guys were old and had one foot out of the league already..

Not 2012 harden nub. Not to mention as a 3rd option klay is clearly better than any version of harden.

Harden and Westbrook were both 22.

All you have to do is watch Harden play now as compared to then to see that he was not there yet. Good, yes... but nothing like the player he is at 26.

Westbrook was already really good, but not as good as he is today. Ditto for Durant.

Not to mention that they didn't fit together the way Golden State does. All three guys like to work with the ball in their hands.

It's just not even close. You had a green team with stylistic clashes. This Warriors team is essentially perfect, aside from not having an All-NBA center to go along with their All-NBA starting four and the best 6th man in the league.

Durant 2017 > Durant 2012
Curry 2017 > Westbrook 2012
Thompson 2017 > Harden 2012
Green 2017 > Ibaka 2012

Apples and oranges.
