Obviously this kid is a great passer for his size, but that release looks horrible.

It's worse than Ricky Rubio or Marcus Smart

Don't worry 76ers fan. Simmons surely will develop a jumper unlike Rubio, Rondo or Smart.

He's a big guy, so the lack of a jumper is less of an issue than it is with guards.

A taller Rondo playing at PF won't be a top 10 player in the league.

If you are a prime rondo-level shooter from the 4, you are an above average shooter for your position. Rondo's shooting hurt him so bad because of his position.

I dont see how anyone can accurately say when he doesn't take many jumpers to begin with. He shot 45 total jumpers in college (only 3 3pters). And in Summer League you can count on one hand how many jumpers he has shot. :confusedshrug:

But that's the irritating part about his game, reluctance to shoot.

I think his reluctance to shoot stems from his jumper being shit. I'm not really worried as he's 20 years old and had played all of two summer league games. I do suspect that it will be ugly when he shoots it this year and that in two more years we will have a much better idea as to whether or no the will ever be a decent shooter. Fortunately, he's overall pretty dangerous w the ball and can grab a board and run the break like he was a short guard. I'm not one of those people who automatically assumes that everyone who can't shoot will be able to but I'm hopeful that he can. There's no way to tell now so I'm not even thinking about that.

I don't get into that "his shot's not broken" bullshit or some jackass talking about his mechanics. Like I said, it's early and there's no cause for panic. I'm patient but I don't assume it will just get better even though the Sixers will tweak it or rebuild it for sure.

I agree with you for the most part. I just see Andre Iguodala as far as production/impact when he was our #1. Obviously there are differences between the two but just don't think Ben Simmons in his prime will be nothing more than an all star, complimentary player at best. I'm cool with that. I just kind of cringe at the Lebron James, Magic Johnson comparisons as if he will get close to those heights. Comparable skill sets but there was something about those two I saw that I'm not seeing in Ben. Perhaps its too early to make such an assessment. Or probably watched him too much at LSU the same annoyances are bothering me in a silly summer league. Just hate that he is by far the best talent on the team deferring to a dude who will probably sign with the Bratsnovich Vieetfarfanugens at the end of the day. :confusedshrug:

What do you see Ben at in his prime? And I could be wrong. At least if I am it's a good thing as it would benefit the Sixers.

I disagree totally. Here's how I see it. First off, you know for sure that I don't get overly excited about any player at all end especially Sixers' players because I try to keep perspective at all times. You know I was hatin on MCW and I love AI and Barkley and everyone else but I am very honest and objective about all of their shortcomings. Ok, now on to Simmons.

Firstly, Iggy wasn't meant to be a number one guy and he's not excellent at anything other than defense. He can pass some and rebound some, dribble a little and score ok. When he's shooting enough to score 20+ ppg, your team is in trouble. He wasn't meant to be a number one guy or even a number two guy. He should have had the role that he has now for his whole career.

Ok, now really on to Simmons. I think that he will be one of the best players in the NBA. Why? There are several reasons. First, he already is an excellent passer and excellent rebounder. Those are two things that can't really be learned and he does them both better than most. To do one of those things really well is rare and to do them both is really rare. What type of passer is he? He's the type who sees the game a few plays ahead of everyone else like Magic, Kidd, Paul, Nash, Stockton etc. Those kind of passers are really rare. There are lots of PGs who are solid passers and make the pass that you might expect WB, Payton etc. but Simmons goes way beyond that. Not for a PF but as a PG (no clue if they are really gonna play him at PG now they are saying he will play there eventually). You cannot learn how to pass like that, it's just something that you have or you don't. Rebounding is the same. He's a great rebounder too. He's very large and extremely agile and fluid. His handles are nasty. He's pretty athletic and he's very very quick. Is he Lebron? No, but I think that he is more fluid than Lebron was at his age and more of an actually guard. Lebron is huge and is one of the most powerful and explosive leapers I've ever seen. Simmons is no slouch but he's not in this category. Lebron can bully and overpower just about anyone and Simmons can't. Simmons is however faster than most everyone and is big enough to bully most players. This is why I don't worry too much about him being able to score ( I said score not shoot :D ) Is he Magic? No way but he is faster and has today's style of dribble and can do that well. He's going to be Ben Simmons and he's going to be his own player. Maybe he won't ever average 25 but that's not his game. CP isn't the best scorer and Kidd wasn't even close but these are dudes who can carry your team in a different way and Simmons is one of those. I think that he's the biggest and fastest guy with actual guard skills but the passing of the best of the best PGs. That is a mismatch nightmare. He will make everyone around him so much better and things will be so much easier for them. He doesn't have the WB scorer's mentality and look for your shot all the time thing but who says that he has to? He's the kind of guy who you want to have the ball to make the decisions when the game is on the line. He'll be the one who's smart enough and capable enough to get the right person the right shot when they need that. That's just as important as being the person who can take the big shot and make it. Don't get me wrong, that doesn't mean he will be an all star this year or any shit like that but I think that he will be one of the best players in the NBA at some point. I could be wrong though.
