Westbrook prob likes the challenge to do this without KD. He almost got the team to the playoffs with 45 wins back in 2015.

WB about to have a usage rate of 80% this year.

That's unfortunate. He's leaving after this season then.

WB is the polar opposite to Durant. On the manhood spectrum.

Agreed. I think they'd both benefit from meeting in the middle somewhere, but I definitely appreciate Russ' competitive spirit.

Still can't get over what a shook bitch Durant looked like in his GS gear

To where? he has his own team, is gonna get max dollars. Now that Durant has bitched out, he's not gonna wanna seem like bitch as well.

I bet he stays. If the team is worth a damn anyways. If they win like 30 games then yeah he's gone.

Will that piece be better than Durant? Oladipo is no James Harden, so he'll need a lot more than a one piece. Another Ibaka? It's too late for this team.

I hope the Thunder don't get burned here. It would be awesome if he stayed there long term because they really could be back to contending after next summer with some additions and player growth.

I really don't know where, there's a few suitors for him. I just think he leaves.

I know, right? That's so 2013.

We're still working on the 2006 model.

warriorfan is probably hoping the salary cap raises enough where he can take a pay cut and join the warriors. After all warriorsfan never has too much confidence in his squad. 1st they says the warriors would've won if Draymond played, but then again he feels they needed more help.

I was thinking the same thing. But if that quote above is true, and I definitely believe it can be since Russ is such an Alpha in his mind, I could see him staying in OKC since they can pay him most anyway.

But yeah, he probably should be traded, if OKC is smart and plays it safe. But maybe he did tell them he'll re-sign (though I won't believe it til I see it).

How would the fans handle seeing Westbrook being traded and knowing their team will be lottery bound for the foreseeable future, with the unlikelihood of being able to sign any major free agent?

And what could the Thunder realistically get for Westbrook, given that he might not stick around with the team he's traded to after this season?

What, are they going to get assets from Philly or Boston and go into full rebuild mode?

Randle and Zubac for WB and sabonis

How would fans feel after he leaves for nothing??? And go into rebuild mode w/ even less assets.

Besides, no full rebuild mode required. Even if Westbrook leaves for nothing, Adams, Kanter, a better Oladipo, a better Payne, etc are enough to compete for #7-8 seed in West. If they do trade Westbrook and get some players back (Smart/Bradley/Crowder or Randle/Ingram/Clarkson, etc), they are still easily in playoff contention. Not title contenders obviously, but not close to rebuilding either.

Unlike Durant, I dont think Westbrook has much choice but to stay in OKC.
GSW, Cavs and Spurs have no room to add.Clippers already have PG.
I am not sure what contender Westbrook can hope on.

In the absence of Durant, Westbrook will have the legendary 36/36/36 season.

Meaning he will average 36ppg

on 36% FG

And win 36 games and miss the playoffs.

I hope he stays. Westbrook led OKC to 45 wins two years ago with Durant missing 55 games, Westbrook himself missing 15 games, and Ibaka missing about 15 games. Those 45 wins weren't enough to make the playoffs in 2015 but would've been good enough for 5th in the West in 2016. If he's in tow for the entire 2017 season, we should still be a playoff team. We'll be terrible defensively, though. Like really, really bad defensively. Should be a lot of fun to watch on offense, though. May be reminiscent of the last 1/3rd of the 2015 season after we traded for Kanter: the offense was one of the best in the league but the defense was one of the worst.

Another difference is Billy Donovan.

Maybe the offense will be even better, who knows
