He was a spectacular College player.

He was college player of the year and hit the title winning shot. He was great. He just had to play within the Dean Smith system. Most college players are restricted in college and aren't allowed to just take over and free style. But those 3 years under Smith ingrained into MJ how to play the game the right way that helped him in the NBA tremendously.
