Birdman, Birdman?!

According to Ty Lue, they're just working out the details.

Tyronn Lue went on NBATV, saying #Cavs signed free agent Chris "Birdman" Andersen. I'm told a deal isn't complete, but team hopes to close.

What say you, ISH? Good move or bad move? He's likely just taking Kaun's spot on the roster.

If he returns to 2013 form good. Probably wont and its just added bench filler.

Good signing. TT is and ironman, but playing the 5 will take its toll on your body. I wonder how much burn Kaun gets this season

Good move. I'm not sure how much he has left in the tank, but despite what people may think he's a great locker room guy and just a good guy in general. He always brings a lot of energy.

I'm not sure it is the kind of move that can be "terrible." He won't command the kind of salary that can't be off-loaded if need be. Probably a one-year deal. It's a roster spot.

Why not kick the tires and see what he has left?

The last time I saw Birdman fly was 2 years ago

At this point of his career I can see him coming off the bench giving 5-10 minutes here and there, but he's 38 years old. He's not going to give us much I don't think.

bold prediction - birdman will average more 3pt attempts than blocks

Would be kind of surprising. He's only done that one year ever and it was last year playing between Miami and Memphis.

He has really fallen off from his very low perch.

He was "too old" when he was brought to Miami a few years ago. He is what he is and that's a very solid, capable, high energy player who can give great minutes and really make an imprint on the game.

In all honesty he didn't put up bad numbers after he went to Memphis last year. 55% FG%, 18.3 MPG, 4.6 PPG, 4.6 RPG. They're not GREAT numbers or anything, but solid for 18 minutes per game for a 37 year old center that's never been a great player.

Indeed. And equally as important, he's an active body and not someone who's crawling down the floor. He is deceptively decent on the offensive end.

team is starting to look very old. Hopefully they don't hand out the rest of 1st round draft picks like candy.

The parts that are young are the important parts. Irving, Love, Thompson. LeBron is towards the end of his prime.

flashbacks of birdman posting a 25 PER in the 2013 playoffs.. this is a good pick up.

Championship quest will bring motiviation in him, he has to prepare his body for the playoffs. I dont expect anything in regular season.

He will give us 5 - 6 big minutes in playoffs. Those minutes of rest can be crucial to the core.

wow, I would've guessed 35 or so... hopefully TT stays the ironman he is, or else we would be in a bit of trouble

Not that long ago

Had a solid stint in Memphis, but was asked to be a starter

10-15 minutes a night, this guy will provide energy, toughness, rebounding and solid defense

He's still got some spring in him, but what stands out to me is his quickness

He sucks. Waste of space on the roster.

I was a big fan of his at Miami, but he fell off even in 2014. He isn't going to be better now.

This is a total champion move. A savy reigning champion move.

Lol. This is probably nothing more than LeBron likes hanging out with this guy. It's not because of basketball.

feels like a waste of a roster spot to me.
