you can have scrubs in the game just to commit these "bounties" to combat super teams. it is hearsay incident at its worst.

I would never wish injury on anyone, but I used to joke about how the only way you were gonna stop Shaq was to send some scrub in there to take out his knee.

It already happened with Jalen Rose admitting he injured Kobe on purpose.
I've always wondered with Jordan's dominance and him being an allegedly ultra huge asshole, why didn't anyone try to injure him. Not like just play hard and dirty like laimbeer but actually try to injure.

It always has and always will happen. Just people try their best to hide it. It's hard to purposely hurt someone seriously while making it look like an accident.

Sabonis locked him up one on one. Ben Wallace too.

Came in here to say this. Literally tried knocking Kobe out of the 2000 Finals. Didn't work, got burned. He objectively knew it was hopeless with peak Shaq + Kobe rolling, so he made a concerted effort to hurt his opponent. Scum move but it happens more than I think we realize. Guys have always pushed the envelope with "landing space".
I'm sure Bowen and others made a habit of it to make sure he was consistently in offensive players' heads, but I'm sure there were a few specific times he made an effort to injure or at least hobble a guy. It's one of those moves where it's easy to say you weren't trying to do anything if the guy gets hurt, but by going there in the first place you're essentially doing so knowing that it's a possibility. Which is almost the same thing.

Bruce Bowen too. It was well circulated around the league that Bowen would intentionally stick his foot under guys that we jumping so that they would land on his feet and roll an ankle.
Not to mention that he kicked jump shooters in the face at least twice (Wally Z, Detlef)

Delly never injured anyone on purpose. That's because he's small and weak for NBA standards. It's all about intent, if someone Lebron's size were resorting to Delly's antics they'd for sure have injured multiple people by now.
