Why make a comparison thread with no intention to compare?

Both guys were 6'4"

But Ainge was far more athletic, and far better player too... Ainge was also a professional baseball player

Yeah but LeBron's bigger, faster, stronger, and has a bigger **** than Jordan... so I don't see your point

Westbrook is 6'3" and he's arguably the best athlete in today's game.

So let's compare to the best athletes in the 80's - Jordan, Dominique, Barkley, many more - Westbrook is inferior.

Westbrook an inferior athlete to Barkley:roll:

Barkley gets up just as high as Westbrook (higher actually), even though he carries 50-60 more pounds in weight, with far more strength and power.

so yeah - barkley was more athletic - barkley is one of the best athletes the nba ever saw.. it's funny how you use the 'lol' emoticon, even though YOU'RE the one who is clueless about players in prior eras

Exactly.

Westbrook gets only 50 dunks per season, while Barkley led the league in dunks every year, at 180+ dunks a year:

^^^^ That was 1988, when dunks occurred once every 29 shots, compared to once every (http://www.insidehoops.com/forum/showthread.php?t=352399) 21 shots in 1995, or once in every 22 shots in 2014.

Barkley is 6'6
Westbrook is 6'3
Let's compare dunks of LeBron James to Mugsy Bogues while we're at it

Ainge also a pro in MLB. ... Way more athletic.

Ainge could have been a pro in three sports. He's the only person ever to be a 1st team all-American in football, baseball, and basketball. He was also a track star I believe. He was a freak athlete.

Danny Ainge was a great athlete. Just because a player is not super fast, strong, and doesn't jump out of the jump, he'll get underrated athletically.

Making it to the NBA and MLB is amazing, and to top that off, he was an All-American football player in HS.

A better comparison is whom is a better athlete: Danny Ainge or Michael Jordan (which is really whom this topic is really about anyway). Dominance in one sport versus versatility in different sports.

I like the comparison between them as defenders.

Both feisty, tough and aggressive although I think Ainge is a better athlete, perhaps more comparable to Hinrich.

Define athlete

is Rodger Federer in his prime athletic
is Tiger Woods in his prime athletic
is David Beckam in his prime athletic
Is Messi athletic?
Was Michael Phelps athletic

I think you silly americans don't quite know what determines athleticism. If you want to talk about jumping high, then say they jump high. Your not a physiotherapist and you don't know how to measure reaction speed, balance, hand eye coordination, grasp strength, stop start explosiveness, endurance, 2/5/10 second strength tests and list goes on.

If your talking about who jumps higher, then say jump higher. Silly kids shouldn't use big words when they don't even know how to measure athleticism. A chinese table tennis player has much faster hand eye coordination, far far faster foot speed and hand speed, reaction speed, balance on one or bilateral, etc then just about any other athlete in the world. Basketball players would look like slow dumb hulks compared to the athletes in other sports.

Dellavedova is like the least athletic point guard to play in the NBA since I've ever been following it.

What exactly is the point of this thread?

Delly is one of the most athletic players in the NBA in terms of prolonged strength, endurance, strength, hand speed etc. He is essentially a footballer (Rugby or AFL) playing a much softer basketball game. I doubt you can find 10 NBA guards who can make the instant transition to a far more physical game like Delly can.
