Why no retirement tour?
Why would you want to hurt a contending team?
Duncan knew he was a liability in the Thunder series and made the right decision.

probably because he didn't know that he was gonna retire prior to the season and contemplated returning for a pretty long time after it.

Cause he's not a punk ass bitch all into his emotions, tweeting beef and how he is going to do something. He took care of his business and he rides off.
The true professional. **** Kobe, **** LeBron, **** Stephanie, **** KD. Watch Tim Duncan and act like men.
All this man had to do was smile from the bench and he could get a technical. Who else can do that? NO ONE. NOT EVEN SHEED.

Duncan's decision to retire without any fanfare is entirely consistent with the way he carried himself for the entirety of his career. Humble, quiet and selfless.
In an age of celebrity-athletes Duncan spurned the limelight and cared only about being the best basketball player and teammate that he could be.
This is a sad day, he is not only one of the greatest players the game has ever seen he is also one of the games greatest ambassadors.

He's not a narcissist who gets gratification from complete strangers worshipping him like Kobe.

Dem top 10 players got that class. Nobody needs to give them the attention they seek from stupid tours because they know they get that respect. :pimp:

Why didn't Tim Duncan jump from franchise to franchise trying to form super teams and failing miserably?

Or quit on his team in the playoffs and demand a trade numerous times

He cant draw a crowd, why tour when nobody wants to see it?
Personally I find him great, but he's no blockbuster player.

Yeah
Timmy is one of the greatest ever, but he's NEVER been about flair or had the fans Kobe and LeBron have and still do. Why leave the way Kobe did, or even Jordan or Doctor J did, when he's...not that type of dude.
From that perspective, I don't have an issue with how these players retired. Not sure why other posters do? :confusedshrug:

He's not an attention whore, he's a humble laid back guy that did his thing without a whole lot of fanfare, and walked off into the sunset the same way.
