Every Greek male has to.

Peja also did the same thing, even though this forum claims he "is not Greek".........I guess Peja just served in the Greek military for the hell of it.

Is there information on this? I looked everywhere it and shows he was born in Athens, Greece.

This article says he was born, raised and educated in Athens. It states his parents moved from Lagos to Greece in 1991, 3 years before Giannis was born.

Edit: Nevermind, I was reading about Giannis and not Peja.

He's referring to Peja. I can say with 100% certainty that Giannis' parents are not Serbs :biggums:

Military service is mandatory in Greece, I'll have to do it too when they give me the citizenship. I think the legal minimum is 40 days, but in Athens they often just let you check in in the morning and go home soon afterwards.

Like most high-profile athletes, he will stay for a couple of days in the camp, and then he will just return after 3 months in order to be discharged
