I honestly think Cleveland would have struggled less with OKC than Golden State.
NBA is all about match ups. Durant is a superstar but Lebron has always been able to play him straight up.
Cleveland had the good depth with the best player in the league. They would have won in 6 probably.

Practically their entire team are all entitled, front running whiners. So it doesn't surprise me really. I'm glad they keep talking shit though, Warriors clearly don't like Cavs and vice versa. We need rivalries like this in sports even though with the lack of parity this can be the ONLY legitimate rivalry in the league.

I pretty much want this team to give LeBron as much fuel as possible. I mean we saw how that worked out with Klay this year in the finals. LeBron trolled Golden State all year through the press: mocked the MVP criteria, propped up Terry Stotts as COTY with a knowing smirk, bitched out Dray at a pivotal time in the Finals thereby never allowing Golden State to play a single clinching game with the true momentum, and backed it all up with a chip.
I don't want them to lay off their arrogance whatsoever next season. Please fan the flames, Dubs. I don't think he'll have a problem with Iggy's comments, they weren't that bad, but I'd love to see the rest of the team pipe up over the course of next season as if they're invincible, same way they did this year.

This isnt a 1v1 game though.
The Thunder actually have a huge frontcourt that can lock down the paint .. notice how the Cavs got 80+ combined points from kyrie and bron in the only game both dray and bogut got knocked out of? A weak paint is why the Cavs always dominated the Hawks .. their two superstars account for like 80% of their possessions and are rim slashers first and foremost (even kyrie is ridiculous at finishing).. they do a ton of drive and kick, so Center play and size is very important to limiting them, as well as close out defense both of which OKC was amazing with. Combine that with Westbrook and Durant playing way better than Curry and Klay did in the Finals (it'd be impossible for them to play any worse) and I dont see how the Thunder could have lost.
That seems like a subliminal shot at KD tbh. GS confirming that OKC was the hardest team to beat, and he took the easier path. It also seems like iggy's role is much less now.

I agree. Serial playoff choker Durant had no excuse to not win.
Never understood how a team that loses can be called the "best" when no one was hurt or missed games. Thunder choked and played stupid basketball. Something they've done before. That's why they weren't the best team and the Warriors were better. Maybe the Thunder were the most talented team, but there's more to a team then talent.
At least the Warriors can say maybe they were better then the Cavs cause Draymond missed a game, Bogut got hurt and missed the last 2 games, Iggy played hurt, and Curry possibly was hurt. But even then, the season is a marathon not a sprint. There was always the possibility that Draymond's questionable behavior on the court could catch up to him even if its not fair, which I don't think the last flagrant he got was. And injuries are part of the game and durability factors into greatness.

that's the thing .. both these series essentially came down to the wire, but the Thunder had none of the things you just listed happen for them, while cleveland had all of the things you just listed happen for them. If OKC has just one of those problems pop up.. just one, it's over for the warriors because the margin was already that slim. Where as the Cavs needed ALL of those things to happen to win .. if just one of them didn't, given the razor thin margin, they would've lost.

It's a good point. I still think OKC was the better team. Which is why it's commendable for KD to go to a lesser-team to play with guys he likes in a better area. He made the alpha decision despite it maybe being a tougher road.

Simplistic take. OKC has holes all over their roster where guys like Love and Frye could have been hidden unlike Golden State, where those very key guys had to fight for minutes. Frye was huge for us all playoffs but couldn't even get on the court ahead of Dahntey Jones in The Finals... not to mention the Cavs' bigs pulling OKC's more traditional 4s and 5s away from the basket and making them uncomfortable.
Meanwhile, the lack of shooting across the roster would mean a clogged paint for Westbrook, who Kyrie has never had any trouble going around and through on the other end. He has always given WB serious problems and that goes back to well before James came back to Cleveland.
Of the three other elite teams in the league (GSW, OKC, SAS), OKC was easily the best matchup for the Cavs. We ended up getting the worst matchup and still won.
It's time to let it go.
The Cavs won the championship in 2016 because they had the best team. End of story.
What was it that Draymond said last year when someone noted that the Cavs were missing Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love during their title run?

not true at all ..
if golden state was smooth sailing, no injuries, suspensions etc, I'd agree with you. Which is why they won first 3/4 games in the series while playing in that state. But if you had to choose between a Thunder at full strength or that ^^^, it's clearly the above that is the more favorable matchup.
it is what it is dude .. you guys won, but it took a hell of a lot more breaks than the Thunder got to get to a similar point.

Thunder may be the best team for that first 4 games but they DID choke 3 straight, much like you did, to the BEST TEAM aka THE CHAMPION
that's the thing .. both these series essentially came down to the wire, but the Thunder had none of the things you just listed happen for them, while cleveland had all of the things you just listed happen for them. Okay, that wasn't really my point. My point was Thunder had no injuries, suspensions, absurdly questionable officiating etc. so there really is no argument that they were best team since they got beat. I don't understand this narrative from people who say team X is the best team despite getting beat by team Y fair and square and with all their horses.

i get what you're saying .. but i think what iggy is basically saying is his squad got lucky vs OKC.. which if you saw the shots klay and curry were hitting to come back from two double digit leads in games 6 & 7.. they kinda did. people on here were saying they were gonna stop watching after G7 because "this isn't basketball" lmao .. I remember that pretty clearly.
iggy watched the thunder basically methodically handle his squad, and then curry and klay hit retard shots to overcome huge deficits .. the splash bros went from 28 and 25 ppg in the WCF's to 23 and 19 ppg in the Finals .. and it wasnt like they were being defended any better.. they were just missing shot after shot. live by the 3 die by the 3 i guess..
but what iggy is saying is as someone who played heavily in both series, the Thunder were more potent team up close .. watching both series, i cant say i disagree with him

OKC was not the best team in the playoffs. If they were then they would have won it all. I never understood why ppl thought they were so talented. If Brook or Rant were missing shots then no one else could create anything.
If they did manage to beat GS, then they would have lost to Lebron.
Curry>Godbrook(not personal opinion)
Thompson>Dion
Harrison<Durant
Draymond>Ibaka
Bogut=Adams
Livingston>Cameron
Ian Clark<Roberson
Andre>Morrow
Speights>Mcgary
Varejao<Kanter
about a 6 player matchup advantage over OKC. I don't get it.

lol .. you follow me around like a little lost puppy dog .. and what i've seen of your postin, its just calling out bran haters. I've never once seen you post something interesting, offer any type of in depth explanations, something funny, nothin .. just a little kid barking on the internet. You're in the same vein as the little bran trolls that make 20 agenda threads a day reguritating the same stuff .. i mightve made 2 or 3 threads past month specifically relating to cavs or bron .. and here i linked some interesting content outside just my own opinion. I've seen posters come and go on here and you are just a little knat .. flying buzzing around offering nothing. yall may hate me.. but you're tuning in. every. single. time.

I'm not about to read this shit.
To say you don't like Lebron, you sure go out of way to try to diminish him.
Bron>Kobe, embrace it.

You have the reading comprehension of a 4 year old.
I'll make it easier for you bud. Although you claim you don't like Lebron, 75% of your posts concern him in some way. Quite pathetic.

Just stroking the ego of his newly acquired teammates ego, while its at it's most fragile in the eyes of the public.
All because said newly acquired teammate choked away a three game to one series lead, playing like dog shit when the nail in the coffin time came.
Very disrespectful to the team led by the guys that actually put you away in an amazing NBA Finals come back. Because their two players balled out in clutch fashion, not playing like timid morons who didn't know how finish a team.
Way to give Cleveland even more ammunition next year.
