Would have preferred a SNES version that can play games from both systems. We know how tiny the game roms are, you can fit thousands of games on a 4GB microSD. But I like the idea, dunno how well it will sell. I don't think I'll buy one for $60.

Nice, I have an Atari 2600 plug and play that is very similar to this. The model I have can be modded to play old Atari cartridges.
Considering how how hardcore Nintendo usually is about getting emulation right for retro games on their e-store I wonder it will be possible to mod this one too?

There are systems like this for Atari 2600, Atari 7800, Colecovision, Intellivision, and Sega Genesis. This Nintendo one will sell just as well if not better than all of those. The Super Mario Bros trilogy alone is going to move a ton of units.

The lineup is worth the price presuming it would be always solid nintendo design and functionality.
I'd play a bit since recently selling my library on my Wii, but I'd envision the lady or my nephew playing more.

You can get a wii next to nothing and hack it to run emulator, same with the original xbox.

What I would love is for Sony to remake Socom US Navy Seals. Obviously with the ability to play the original maps on line.

Shame there's no cartridge slot, but a solid list of games.

so it's basically a smaller version of the original system with 30 pre-selected games and no cartridge slot?
meh... i'd rather pick up the real thing and then buy a flash cartridge, so i can load in as many games as i want. so basically it would look like this:

btw, you can buy these types of flash carts for pretty much any system.
http://retrorgb.com/romcarts.html
you can also go the portable route if you already have a big cart collection. here's one example:

...
but IMO best and cheapest of all is simply running an emulator on your phone / tablet and buying a controller or two for it... plus a cable if you want to plug in to a TV.

Yup. You can run nes and snes emulator and run the roms for free on the wii.

With the application of emulators, makes no point to have something like this. However, just tried the 3ds the other day and that is on point.

Nope...I have a Wii U and it has virtual console...also there are few games on here that I'd want to play again or play for the first time...this would have been a 100 times cooler if it was a mini snes instead.

If I really wanted to enjoy NES games I would just use the Analogue NT (http://www.analogue.co/products/analogue-nt-information) system. It's pricey, but it's of the highest quality and it transfer everything to HD, including high fidelity sound. Not to mention it's so easy to play classic NES games.

I wanted to buy all 3 Donkey Kongs for my Wii (through the virtual console) but they removed them from the store before I could get them.
I want to play the Super Nintendo ones, not the really old ones.
What would be the easiest way for me to play these as well as other classic super nintendo games?

Like I said it's pricey. Unbox Therapy did a review of one.

Maybe something like that or similar and emulators. You can prob play the earlier stuff easily, like NES, SNES, N64, Genesis and stuff like that. The roms are prob not huge files either. I believe once you get to PS1 games they became gigabytes.

yeap. looking through my SNES ROMs, the biggest one is 2.5mb. for N64, it's 27mb. the ones for NES and genesis are smaller of course.
looking at some PSX games online...
resident evil 3: 252mb
crash team racing: 268mb
final fantasy IX: 392mb for disk 1 of 4, so the whole game might be 1.6gb or so...
