Why are Laker fans so quick to crown D'angelo Russell

It's flat out embarrassing, I'm convinced these fans either have the mental capacity of a 12 year old, or are actually 12 years old. We aren't that far removed from seeing Kobe in his prime, that was the example of how a star player carries himself and approaches the game. Good shooting night or bad shooting night, that commitment to excellence and win at all costs attitude was on display always. Kobe didn't take a night off ever (late career Kobe on D being the exception), didn't celebrate meaningless regular season wins, and didn't goof around and associate himself with career losers like Nick Young. In his early 20s Kobe had the balls, and more importantly the credentials to tell future first ballot hall of famer that his level of effort was holding him back from winning, then went on to win more rings than him.

If you saw what Kobe put himself through for the last 20 years, there is just no way you can turn around and build Russell up to be anything more than just unproven potential at the moment. There's flashes of potential so far, but just as many red flags. The constant disrespect and battling with the coach despite you being a 17 win team with some of the worst personal advanced stats in the league, being completely honest so far you'd say Russell has shown more traits in common with the Nick Youngs and Hardens than the great Kobe Bryant.


I still got high hopes for Russell but if it he's what it takes to get Westbrook, you don't even think about it. Ship his ass out.

Sometimes this dude just took plays off on defense and seemed to turn his brain off at random times on the defensive end and that pissed me off. If you take plays off on D in the NBA your man is going to get an easy bucket and it hurts the whole team.

I'm glad our front office finally stuck with a plan and brought in vets to mentor the youngins. Russel hasn't don't shit and might be shit. I rather with him anyday with this young core. With Westbrook may have a another 3-4 years before his decline, a steep decline I'm sure.
