Larry Legend was the better player but if greatness includes fame and all the other non basketball stuff then Kobe Bryant is greater for sure, not even close.

Bird didn't have the longevity of Kobe but the majority of basketball savants have him greater than Bean.

Bird. Kobe impact on team success is arguably the worst when it comes to the all-time great players.

Larry Bird peaked higher than Kobe, winning three MVPs in a row in a competitive league, thrived in an era of powerful dynasties like the Sixers, Lakers, and Pistons, and spearheaded one of the greatest teams in league history.

Kobe was the more explosive scorer, but he could never control a game like Bird.

Definitely Bird. Kobe's longevity helps him make an intriguing case against guys who've had their careers shortened by injury or other circumstances, but it's still Bird by a clear margin.

To answer the question, the guy who dominated the mid 80's and won 3 consecutive mvps which not even lebron has done.
This isn't even a comparison. Bird is a couple of tiers above Kobe. He was simply put a much better basketball player.

For his first 9 seasons, he was never worse than 4th in the league.
