why don't NBA players use set shot? Isn't that a quicker release?

A set shot that's not completely open is usually a bad idea. Many players just don't practice it due to how athletic players are at the collegiate/professional level.

...unless you're tall as fock.

Nobody is ever so wide open that they can shoot without jumping. It is an unrealistic situation. Unless of course, you are way tall and left alone for an outside shot.

Only shot to practice without jumping is a free throw.

Doesn't Curry basically use a set shot? He ends up in the air but his release coincides with his feet leaving the ground.
