Lebron still has a 40 + inch vert.....I honestly don't think Lebron will ever get to a point where he isn't still the biggest natural freak on the floor any given night. He isnt just going to suddenly lose size or his speed, in fact those things will never go. He will diminish in hops sure but given its already 40 + inch I am failing to see that ever really being a problem for him. Lebron has already lost a couple steps that much is evident yet hes still there, competing for chips year in year out. I think he will stick with this form for another 3-4 years. It will be fascinating to see just how far he can go and if he will ever get a serious injury that might hamper his ability.

His running vert will decrease very slowly and will still be elite for some years, but his jumping ability from a standstill position is getting significantly worse as the years go by (was not elite even in his prime).

No , he doesn't .

I've seen his form , he had around 36 vert at last finals .

But still amazing with his size . Almost 7'1 Wingspan , 8'10 Standing Reach and with 36 vert still too much for the nba . We've seen what happened on the court when he want to protect the rim . Probably , NBA fans saw the real all around James first time in his career .

If he had that mentality since his early years , he would have been one of the greatest of all time , at least like Wilt with his impact .

It's sad Jordan hype did push new generation to score, score, score . Or man to man defences, trash talks etc. Bullshits . Player could have been much better w/out that mentality . That was Jordan's way , every player cannot be the same .

People were literally saying that about Shaq in 1998. And about Bron for years now as well. You never know with these things. Guys were on here talking about Bron supposedly not being able to go by Asik like 4 years ago and how he was going into serious decline. People see what they choose to see.

You realize Lebron can just move to PF as he gets older...right? He would always be one of the most athletic PF's in the league regardless of his age. (barring any serious injury) He clearly is stronger than most PF's too.

I do rank them impact wise , not with accolades/team accomplishments/popularity . His best year was last one to me . And his last year definitely comparable to peak days of Kareem and Jordan . If he had this level for his peak days , he would have been like Kareem,Jordan,Russell,Wilt .

Btw , he can surpass Wilt with solid longevity . But there's no chance for matching careers of Kareem,Jordan and Russell , realistically ( beside of having longevity of Karl Malone ) .

Not really dude.

Russell averaged things like 22/27/5 throughout playoff runs. And this is with defense that would blow your mind and leadership abilities that you probably couldn't even imagine watching this game today.

He was the Ulysses S. Grant of the NBA.

I mean...dude lead SAN FRANSISCO to 2 straight NCAA titles.

Him winning anything and everything was not just good fortune. Not even close.

Bron still has another career on the block as a dominant post player.

The haters will love it when he can't run and jump like the biggest gazelle ever made, but when that happens he will get his a-- down onto the block and dominate from there. He will score from there and distribute from there like it's nobody's business.

The jealousy is so funny on here. Makes me wonder how old some of the posters are on here. As if they just want to take their balls and go home.

The league better with him retired? That's like saying the league is better without Bird, Jordan, Magic, Duncan...just not true. It moves on, and people take over, but it won't be better without LBJ.

So...LBJ still has another career on the block, and enjoy him now while he's here. He's a monster who plays basketball.

Realistically it's more 15/19/3.5 type of Playoff Runs after adjusting for the 30% extra possessions that Russell had to work with

Sure.

But what if a guy with Ben Wallace defense and true alpha leadership unlike anything almost any of us have ever seen averaged 15/19/4 in today's league?

A lot of championships to be had there.

 His adjusted assists numbers still about 4.5-5 .

More like 14-16-5 and with better defence than Ben Wallace .

Goat impact .

not really.. his post game is still elementary and based off getting a mismatch w/ a smaller player.. he doesnt have any moves to use on somebody with equal strength. Unless bron wants to become permanent pick setter, post guy.. but who can see bron w/o the dribbling up top.. we've never seen that.

This isn't 1998...you don't need a post game to be effective from the PF position anymore. He would do just fine there facing up. He's also a much better post player than you want to believe...set aside your hate for awhile.

Yes, he would be great and one of the best players in the league for sure if he played today

Was saying that he wouldn't be averaging 25+ rebounds a game though

Well no.

But outside of Wilt no one averaged 25+ rebounds a game back then either.

I just think it's silly to say that Shaq and Bron shit on anything Russell and Wilt did. That was the reason for my post.

LeBron's longevity is unprecedented so far.. hes already pretty much played as much or more minutes than most in history.. w/o a single major injury or much signs of slowing down.. he is a cyborg physically.. and well likely never see anything quite like it today in todays fast paced perimeter league.

Hondo, Cousy, Jones, etc.. They're HOF'ers with or without Russell. Hondo would've actually won ~4 FMVP's, if he they had that back then. WITH BR. He won 2 more rings after that and won the FMVP as well in '74. Dude is one of the most underrated players of all time (relative to era).

Two more years as a top 3 player in the league would cement him as the second best player of all time.

And his "twilight" may not be so bad as you think OP. Once he is no longer one of the fastest SF's in the league, he can move to PF full time and will be one of the fastest players at his position again.

He is in the top 3 or so of minutes played by current players in the NBA, another two elite seasons would be close to GOAT longevity as as top 2 player in league.
