View Full Version : Bran lost on purpose to the Magic in 09 to avoid Kobe in the finals...

The Cavs won 66 games, they were the #1 seed, and they were easily favored over the underdog Magic.
In two games against Kobe that season, Bran was a combined 14-45 from the field and went 0-2. Bran went 5-20 in one of those games and 9-25 in the other.
Bran KNEW if he faced Kobe in the finals, it was a wrap. That finals would've been the clear cut tiebreaker should Bran ever come close to catching Kobe in the GOAT rankings. (Which inevitably he didn't because of the cowardly colluding and running) They were both at their peak, but Kobe was easily better. (Bran young peak and Kobe's latter peak)
There is just no damn way that 66 win team should've lost to the Magic, unless of course it was as calculated as the rest of Bran's career.

Show us where in that series he stat padded.
His whole game is stat padding.
He holds the ball and makes bailout assist passes all game.
He leaks out on fast breaks without defending all the time for easy baskets.
Etc.
And of course the NBA allows him to play illegal basketball to maximize their investment.

Bron was better than Kobe ever was in those 2009 playoffs, so if that was avoiding Kobe, he did a damn good job of hiding it.

39/8/8 on 49% while not even trying to win
32/6/7 on 43% while trying like hell to finally win without Shaq
So even when LeBron isn't trying he easily has a better series against the same opponent, LeBron > Kobe

seriously trying to discredit lebron 09 is a lost cause. It's up there as one of the GOAT peaks without a championship. At least you wouldn't have sounded like a complete idiot if you used 2010.

0-2. 5-20. 9-25.
That's your GOAT peak.

He wanted to avoid a team whom he routinely raped during thr regular season while Kobe struggled against his?
As weak as the Cavs supporting cast was compared to the Lakers, Lebron would've most likely averaged 35+ against the Lakers and beat them in 6 or less.
Quick trivia questions guys!
1. Which player has missed the most shots in NBA regular season history?
2. Which player has missed the most shots in NBA playoff history?
3. Which player has missed the most shots in NBA finals history?
Virtual high-five for whoever gets these right!

The most fearless, alpha player in NBA history.
One that wouldn't beg the HC to let his teammate ISO to win a finals series.

You're right. He would just take the shot himself and brick it:lol
Props to Lebron for always making the right decision

Bron = Greatest elimination game performer in NBA history. Only man to lead a 3-1 comeback in the finals.
Kobe = 6/24
I rest my case

You're starting to get kinda boring.
You went from teetering on the edge of troll and strongly opinionated person to completely off into the deep end.
Kind of a shame but I guess every troll, like every hero, will fizzle out eventually.
Props to your effort tho

Stalker's point may seem outlandish but he has point
Let's take a trip back to 2009
LeBron James has just reached official superstar status
Things were just shifting from him being the most talented kid with nothing to lose, to him having to fill the shoes as the legit best player in the NBA
LeBron knew very well what was waiting for him on the other side
That he would have to face the Mamba, one on one, on the biggest stage, it would of been one of the most epic story lines in NBA history
He definitely was not ready for the moment and he knew it well
LeBron's talent level in 2009 was pretty much second to none in NBA history, in game 6 of the ECF he didn't choke (http://www.basketball-reference.com/boxscores/200905300ORL.html) because he was intimidated by Dwight Howard, Hedo Turkgolu, and Rafer Alston, he was intimidated because he knew that if he served them up then all of a sudden he would be toe to toe with the baddest man on earth, Kobe Bryant, everyone including LeBron himself knew he was not ready for that moment.

So playing to get easy baskets is now "stat padding"
You won't be happy until he takes fadeaway shots all the time.

I'm a coward.
Can't argue with that.
So basically a guy who had the most productive playoff run in NBA history (http://www.basketball-reference.com/leaders/per_season_p.html) there (88' Hakeem is technically #1 but he played only 4 games)...
...in a series where he essentially averaged almost a 40 point triple double (including clutch shots)...
...somehow lost on purpose? To not face a team/player he factually dominated? Wait, considering the productions, does that mean Lebron was holding back & hence could have averaged a 50 point quadruple double instead???
In reality 2009 actually is the year i think Lebron was gonna win it for the first time, if only they could have got past Magic, thats what i was thinking BEFORE they ever met in the playoffs, because they had the most trouble against them all year (Dwight surrounded with shooters was Cavs scrubs achilles heel defensively), Lebron however had zero problem against them, but they were basically trading baskets, Lebron scores, his teammates let Dwight/shooters convert, Lebron scores, his teammates let Dwight/shooters convert & repeat, it was like that all games.... Kobe/Lakers were only lucky Magic barely won over Cavs, Lebron/Cavs never had any trouble against Lakers/Kobe, they would always get dominated (and Kobe would get embarrassed by Lebron)... Kobe/Lakers made it personal in each matchup against Lebron/Cavs, to no avail, he was not holding back.... if Lebron went to that Finals it would been only 1 alpha championship run in Kobes resume instead of 2.
