The Spurs won 58 games, ranked first in defensive rating AND 6th in offensive rating.
While it's true a key player like Derek Anderson was injured for that series, the Spurs team was really good still as Antonio Daniels stepped up averaging 19 pts/game. IMO, it's not about the number of all-stars but how they played as a team, D-Rob still put in 14 pts, 11 rebs and nearly 4 assists/game.
Lakers deserves credit esp their defense as Porter, Avery Johnson, Ferry and the 32 yr old Elliot all struggled from the field.

Part of the reason that '01 Lakers team slightly underproduced in the RS was a combined 22 missed games from Kobe and Shaq. They were probably a mid-60 wins quality team even on autopilot.

The Lakers 2001 competition was a joke...one of the most overrated teams ever because of this simple fact. The early 2000s was by far one of the weakest eras the NBA has ever had in general.
