Sources report that Lebron is encouraged by his team mates to capture his 5th NBA MVP award next season due to varying off season moves. It reports that Lebron's agents feel that Curry/Durant, both previous season MVP winners will not likely be favourites for the MVP award due to both now playing together in GSW. It also reports another likely MVP award candidate Russel Westbrook may have an MVP level statistics wise much like James Harden but may not win enough games to secure a high enough ranking for MVP contention. It further explains that Lebron agents sees Lebron as a clear cut favourite winner of the MVP season if he wants the award.

At 32 years old with a ton of mileage, I highly doubt Lebron will be "gunning" for a regular season accolade. It's all about the playoffs for him at this point. There's no reason for him to go all out for 82 games.

He doesn't even need to gun for it. Considering Cuckry and Betarant forfeited it, it will just fall onto his lap.

I could see him pushing for it. He hit a huge milestone in leading Cleveland to a championship.

Lebron theoretically could pick up the MVP but I don't think he truly cares about that.

He puts up 25/7/7 regardless.

That is an MVP season anyway if they get to 58+ wins.

He 'could', but with his mileage better off pacing himself to finish the year strong. They are correct in that Durant and Curry playing together cancel each other out, and OKC won't win enough games for Westbrook to win though I can easily see him duplicating his 2015 season.

Already has 4 of em, he shouldn't waste any energy gunning for a RS award.

Nah, in fact expect him to coast even more than usual next year.

Matching Kareem for mvp's would be amazing for him . But has he enough energy for both , season and playoffs right now ?

Westbrook gonna get the mvp
Not with another MVP candidate on OKC.

He knows he can't win the title now that GS has leveled the playing field, so there is no doubt in my mind that he'll go hard for the MVP award to try and salvage his season.

Durant and Curry being in the same team gives him a pretty solid shout IMO, esp since he is coming off a great finals himself.

I expect him to go in the opposite direction now...I honestly don't think he'll ever average 25ppg+ again in the regular season. He has 3 championships and he finally brought one to Cleveland...I see him coasting throughout the regular season now and letting Kyrie and Love carry the team more. People need to remember that he has by far the most minutes played of anyone his age and pretty much has nothing left to prove as far as the regular season goes.

Voter's fatigue sucks. The guy realistically has a case mostly every season. People just want to see someone else get MVP.

Why would curry be forfeited. Durant joined him. Not his fault.

Yes, LeBron left his originally drafted team to play with the 2nd and 4th highest PER (D.Wade and Chris Bosh)

Curry stayed with his originally drafted team and had the 2nd highest PER come to his team

If Curry did what LeBron did it would be like Curry leaving Golden State to join Kevin Durant AND Russell Westbrook in OKC (Leaving his team to join the players with the 2nd and 4th highest PER)

gtfo with that voter fatigue bullchit.

30/7/5 on 67% TS with 73 wins is miles better than 25/7/7 on 59% TS on a 57 win team.

I'm still waiting for you to admit that Lebron is the 2nd best player ever. Every time you cite PER to back your agenda, that's essentially what you're saying.
