Slaves didn't build the White House.
CLAIM: The White House was built using slave labor.
MOSTLY TRUE
WHAT'S TRUE: Recent research has uncovered that the majority of laborers responsible for the construction of the White House and other buildings in the U.S. capital were slaves.
[QUOTE]In June 2005, Congress commissioned a study [PDF] that looked into slave labor and Washington D.C.-area landmarks. In the foreword, U.S. Senate historian Richard Baker explained that it had been extremely difficult to uncover the details, because slaves were not considered important to the history of the United States at that time:
No one will ever know how many slaves helped to build the United States Capitol Building
Slaves didn't build the White House.
They helped.
And by helped, I mean they were associated with the project in some way.
Hold this L
Slaves helped build the White House. They didn't build it.
Mostly true means there is some false in there, and that false is that they didn't build it.

Sounds like there's hardly any reliable evidence whatsoever but some agenda-driven 'scholars' decided it was the kind of emotional narrative that would make a good talking point, so they decided to take it upon themselves to declare it a fact of history.
Also, who the **** cares what slaves did? Michelle Obama was never a slave. This attempt to push a 21st century political agenda based on anything related to slavery is transparent and pathetic race baiting. If youre upset that Papa Bear O'Reilly is offering an opinion about slavery, be upset with the First Wookie doing the same.
Also, being black did not make you a slave. Being captured and purchased as a slave, or being born into slavery made you a slave. But it was possible to be black and free. Having black skin did not automatically make you a slave.
Never at any point in American history did black = slave. It's a false narrative, used to gain sympathy and pity, or in the case of politicians like MEchelle and $hillary, power.
But ofc, idiots like nathanjizrag eat this shit up bc its a simple emotional narrative they can easily process. "Blacks = slaves = sympathy."
Michelle did her job.

Never at any point in American history did black = slave. It's a false narrative, and it undermines the countless people across the globe whove been slaves and are not black.

I dunno. It's not like slavery was 3,000 years ago. It was 151 years ago. That's only 2 human lifetimes ago. It's true that nobody alive in America was a slave, but it's not ONLY about slavery.
White Americans largely believed that blacks were lesser humans. They thought slavery was evil and they ended it, but upon ending slavery, they didn't also end the idea of blacks being lesser humans. They still all believed that they were lesser humans, they just couldn't stand for them being enslaved.
The idea of blacks being lesser humans is almost entirely gone... Almost. But the time when that idea was very common was really not very long ago.

White Americans in the north went to war and hundreds of thousands of white men died in the name of ending slavery. A majority of these white men who gave up their lives for this cause never owned slaves and their families never owned slaves.

I understand that. I'm just making the point that slavery isn't the only issue. That ended. You have to recognize though that the general attitude in society of blacks is a problem that didn't end with the abolition of slavery. Even though whites believed slavery was evil and wanted it to end, they never saw the people they wanted to free as being their equals. And that's a problem that has persisted long after the end of slavery.

You cant legislate peoples attitudes. What people thought about blacks 150 years ago is immaterial, and what people think on a personal level today is frankly immaterial. The DNC is trying to leverage all this pity around black history to create a power concentration and to pass policy that is not constitutional.
I'm not a black American, so my interests may be different than black Americans. Corrupt, power shills like Hillary are trying to create an environment where if Im not sensitive to black interests or willing to put them ahead of my own, I'm "wrong" or "racist" or the bad guy. No, I dont want to put black sympathy issues ahead of constitutional rights. THAT it what the DNC is trying to do. Not because it helps blacks. Because it will get the vote of ignorant blacks and allow special interests to circumvent the constitution for their own gain.
The DNC is ACTIVELY trying to create a black victimhood mentality and then posture itself as the solution, simply to get ignorant and uneducated voters to support policies they dont know shit about, but will pull that lever for Hillary bc she's telling them white people arent listening to them. It is overt, OBVIOUS exploitation of black ignorance. Im sick of it. This shit doesnt do white people ANY good. And I am white, therefore I have every right to say **** this shit. If blacks or anyone of any race doesnt like the constitution, doesnt like free markets, doesnt support free speech, GTFO. Go start your own country somewhere else. Stop ruining ours because youre so dumb that you can be conned by a woman who is exploiting the EXACT people she is pandering to, and theyre too ****ing stupid to even realize it.
Enough with this race shit. Principles first. If other races cant compete, LEAVE.

Well put. That being said, the black community need to stop using slavery as an excuse and a crutch for the problems. Nearly every non Anglo immigrant community were looked upon with scorn when they immigrated here. The Chinese, Jews, Irish, etc. all faced discrimination and all improved their communities. Granted, none were enslaved but still. Did they have it rough? Yes, of course. But just botching about it and waiting for handouts isn't the way to fix it. Get off your ass and work to improve yourself .

Indians were really cool to Anglo Saxons when they arrived. Taught them how to farm the land, taught them how to survive the winters, and allowed them to live in relative peace. In return, the Anglo Saxons ****ed them hard.

These people are so obsessed with race that they are the racist without realizing it. It's great to know history, but it's the past..just try not to repeat it again. Be thankful that Europeans were the ones to abolish slavery first and were involved in slavery for less time than others by far.

Sorry , but not surprised that her point went right over your head.
Obama was actually praising this country & pointing out how far it's come so quickly & why it's the "greatest country in the world".
Obama is speaking from a position of power ( no crutches nor excuses needed) while you misinterpret her speech & whine from a position of weakness on the internet.
It's not Michelle Obama's problem some are very sensitive at the mere mention of slavery.
