There was only one outcome in Love's eyes - Curry will shoot the 3, and when you have the privilege of that, you only have to stay close, because you know he won't drive past you. Now in regular circumstances, he'd be two feet back from him in case he decides to drive, yet still close enough to contest the shot if he decides to shoot it. Knowing what your opponent will do is the biggest advantage in that situation and anybody could've guarded that.
I've seen Shaq push Iverson back from driving past him in 01 finals, and that was even a bigger size/speed difference.
