I've been posting here around 9 years.

This is the first time I've ever seen you make a thread that isn't "ISH #1, you're a celeb!"

My father was encompassed by cancer at the time; we shared many tears

The cry of the city like a siren's song
Wailing over the rooftops the whole night long
Saw a shooting star like a diamond in the sky
Must be someone's soul passing by

These are the streets
Where we used to run where your Papa's from
These are the days
Where you become what you become
These are the streets
Where the story's told
The truth unfolds
Darkness settles in

Shine your light down on me
Lift me up so i can see
Shine your light when you're gone
Give me the strength
To carry on, carry on

Don't want to be a hero
Just an everyday man
Trying to do the job the very best he can
But now it's like living on borrowed time
Out on the rim, over the line
Always tempting fate like a game of chance
Never want to stick around to the very last dance
Sometimes i stumble and take a hard fall
Loose (?) hold your grip off the wall

Shine your light down on me
Lift me up so i can see
Shine your light when you're gone
Give me the strength to carry on
Carry on

I thought i saw him walking by the side of the road
Maybe trying to find his way home

He's here but not here
He's gone but not gone
Just hope he knows if I get lost

Shine your light down on me
Lift me up so i can see
Shine your light when you're gone
Give me the strength to carry on
To carry on

This is tough. My fav films may not be the best objectively speaking. There are films that for whatever reason have stayed with me all these years and I keep re-watching them.

In no order:

Conan the Barbarian (1982).... this is a modern day opera powered by the late Basil Poledouris. While very thin on dialogue the music tells the tale of the arch-hero. Arnold gives a great minimal performance and the late James Earl Jones gives a great performance. The script is deep filled with metaphors and hidden messages by Oliver Stone (oh yeah.. conspiracy heads this one's for you). I've seen this film a zillion times.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974) Horror movie's 'Holy Grail', THIS is how you build suspense and terror. You feel dirty and grimy watching this film, the entire mood is captured like no other. You feel like you're wearing Leatherface's mask, you feel like you're the one that's being hunted.

Back to the Future.. no explanation

Brewster's Millions... I've seen this film a billion times, I never miss it.

Trading Places.... Eddie's first film. Another movie that I've seen a million times

Movies are too hard. Some in the conversation of Godfather 1 & 2, Shawshank Redemption, Pulp Fiction, Resevoir Dogs, Fight Club, Oldboy, City of God. And many more.

TV shows are a bit easier:

1) The Wire
2) Sopranos
3) Game of Thrones
4) Breaking Bad
5) Vikings

Prison Break is in my Honorable Mentions.

I just saw City of God. Very unique movie. Soundtrack was on point the whole film. This is one of those few crime movies that I feel could have made a great TV season of 6-7 hours. Predictable at times, that's my only complaint. I would give the movie a solid 8.7/10. I know someone who grew up in Rio back in the 70s and talked about how these "hoods"/favelas were completely seen as "don't even dare to go there even in broad daylight."
