Bro you can't simply average the ranks for starter and bench to get an overall ranking. It just doesn't work that way especially when starters carry a heavier weight than the bench lol...do you even math?

I definitely think Utah is going to be great this year, and IMO with some luck could rise to as high as the 5th seed in the West behind the Blazers and Clippers.

I agree with No Pun Intended that you can't just average out bench/starter quality as if they're of equal importance.

I don't know; do you grammar?

I agree that you can't extrapolate a reliable ranking system simply by averaging two arbitrary opinions on starting 5 and bench strength. Surely a multiplier must be added to the starting 5, as giving equal weight to the bench, which typically contributes far less to all measurable statistics than the starters, is silly.

That said, providing an average does provide somewhat of an accurate rating of this particular publication's perception of each team's ten man rotation. Doesn't mean the teams will ultimately finish in this order in the standings - that's where the multiplier comes in - but it is interesting to project that possibility against what most tend to predict as playoff/non-playoff teams next year.

Utah is high but not insanely so. I too see them in the 3-5 range. Houston seems high. Atlanta and Indiana seem low.

Where's the pun?

Haha, edit: it's the guys name.

Anyway, If The Suns stay healthy there's no way they're dwindling down at 28

No I meant I was responding to no pun intended, the username. :oldlol:

Yeah I'm really high on the Jazz this season. I think they could've used a playoff appearance/first-round beatdown by the Dubs last year just so they got their feet wet, but shouldn't be too big of a deal. This year they'll lose a hard-fought 7 game first round series to Portland and become a bonafide second-tier threat NEXT season.

I think that all depends on Exum. If he is healthy and has the same defensive abilities he showed before the knee injury, I think Utah beats Portland in a series, purely on the strength of their perimeter defense.

Portland's offense goes through Lillard and McCollum, but I think Utah has enough length on the perimeter to throw a ton of different looks at them (Hill, Exum, Mack, Burks, Hood, Hayward, Johnson). In theory, that keeps Portland out of rhythm.

Utah clearly targeted guys who could allow them to switch everything on high picks. That should hurt teams that run a bunch of their offense through the small guys. Where Utah will be vulnerable defensively is in the mid-range, as Gobert and Favors are not very consistent at recognizing when to step out (and when to help the helper when one of them does).
