View Full Version : Brazil was/is the world's biggest importer of slaves. How dare the MSM support this?

Surely if the mainstream media chooses to assail The United States for a practice from over 400 years ago it should be boycotting the evil nation known as Brazil!

They support it because in reality we all love slaves.

Slaves built the agricultural industries of the world.

Rather than look down on slaves....I acknowledge them and I recognize their hard work. Most people think 'slave' is a derogatory term. I embrace the term and look at them as human beings who struggled and built the world.

I don't know if Brazil still is but if they are then that sucks because we have machines that can do most jobs.

The left doesn't care about slavery. That's why they fought a civil war to keep it. They only pretend to care about slavery when it's politically convenient.

Funny thing is like 90% of liberals probably owned slaves in their ancestry.

I don't have a problem with slavery from back in the days but slavery today is horrible and downright inhumane.

I love slaves and I support the men and women who built the agricultural industry of America's past, which brought forth the agricultural industry of today. Rather than look down on slaves...I love slaves.

Rather than blaming white people for slavery....Be proud of what they achieved for America.

I don't support he concept of slaver but I support the slaves.

Simple as that. No need for negativity.

I wonder if your ancestors were kind like you are to slaves back in those days.

:facepalm

Why do you hate slaves?

I am Team Slave while you are probably Team Slavery.

I support slaves but I don't support slavery. Too many good people are misled to being slaves today. Just like how the Middle East, Muslims to be exact, are actively practicing slavery.

Qatar is actively practicing it as well.

So is Dubai. Most laborers in Dubai are poor immigrants from underdeveloped Asian countries, who have to hand in their passports as soon as they enter Dubai and live in slums in order to work on skyscrapers for a measly wage, and are not allowed to regain their passports (and therefore leave the country) until the contruction is complete. Unions are banned and media are censored enormously. Huge violation of human rights. It's as close to slavery as you can get in this day and age.

Brazil is piss poor, does not fit the narrative that "slaves are the foundation of USA's economical success".

Slaves are not the foundation of the USA's economic success. If anything, slavery is a hinderance to economic success.

Slaves picked cotton and tobacco. Let's not pretend that this is somehow the foundation of the United States's success. During the same period, America's exporting of lumber to Europe was MUCH bigger business than anything having to do with slavery.

If slaves picking crops was so economically successful, India, Jamaica, Haiti and Brazil would be much richer than the United States.

If I remember my history lessons correctly, it's not necessarily buying and using slaves that earns you money, it's trading (and more specifically; selling) slaves. And as far as I know the USA was generally not so much into trading and selling slaves, but more into using slaves. It's mostly the European countries (like my home country The Netherlands) that got rich from slaves by 'capturing' and selling them, not necessarily the countries that imported and used them like the USA. A sad and sombering piece of history.

Europeans didn't "capture" slaves. They bought them.

Okay let me rephrase. Most European countries, like The Netherlands, didn't really use slaves as laborers, but rather sold them for profit. These were the countries that got rich from slavery (or rather slave trade). Not necessarily the countries that used slaves as laborers, as for them slaves were just a cheap resource for labor, not necessarily a resource for profit on its own.

Though I must admit that even discussing this makes my toes curl. Sad business all around.

It's about 100x more likely your ancestors were slave owners than mine were.

But shhh don't tell anyone.

I have heard the MSM discuss this several times in the last week.

You live inn America so of course you will hear more news about America, Americans don't really give two f*cks about news that doesn't concern them so why would Brazilian history be important?

1865 wasn't 400 years ago BTW
