View Full Version : 2004 USA captain- Duncan 2008 USA captain- Kobe
The 2004 United States men's Olympic basketball team winning the bronze medal is one of the biggest debacles in America's Olympic history. Duncan was 28 years old and was the official captain of the team that won the bronze medal.

Kobe on the other hand was the official team captain for team USA in 2008. In the 4th quarter against Spain Kobe was the go to guy in crunch-time because the other players were shook and he delivered them a gold medal.

Damn. Team USA would have lost to Spain without Kobe. Kobe haters should appreciate him for saving this country from further embarrassment in the Olympics.

Why don't you be equitable and compare those rosters. Duncan was playing with bums.

Lebron and Wade were both better than Kobe in 2008. I blamed Larry Brown's coaching, and Argentina and Lithuania were at their peak's of International Dominance during that time.

Was Puerto Rico also at its peak of international dominance?

Yet another reason no one in the know respects Bransvestites concerning the game of basketball.
There was only one game in question...there was only one player that finished that game in glorious fashion and won the gold medal.
You box score junkies that worship numbers in blowouts and inconsequential play absolutely disrespect true greatness.

That's actually the best Puerto Rican Basketball Team of all time. 23 yrs.old Carlos Arroyo was a very good FIBA Player.

Indeed. Carlos could've been even better in the NBA if he had toned down his attitude toward coaches and were less passive offensively.

wow.. isnt it crazy that we saw a perfect intersection of Wade, Kobe, and Lebron's primes in the 2008 olympics? and in the gold medal game.. the only game where theres usually even a hint of competition, the pecking order was
Wade
Kobe
Lebron
Wade scoring effortlessly in the flow, Kobe closing the game out, .. and Lebron .. getting a measly 14 points .. haha. says it all man.

Kobe haters were probably rooting Team USA to fail in 2008 and 2012.
Bran stans, Kobe was Bran's captain. How do you guys feel about that?

When Kobe plays a team game he's (was) unstopable
Wade was also great.
