Say what you will about Kobe but I can't see him earning anything less than gold in Olympic play.

James made the 2004 Olympic roster in his rookie year and barely played. Kobe wasn't considered and that was his 7th year in the NBA.

In 2000, that was Kobe's 3rd year in the league and was left off/wasn't even considered for the Olympic team.

no true clutch closer on that USA team sadly enough ... in fact, the clutchest closer of the tournament was tim duncan's very own NBA teammate, Manu Ginobili, who would go on to do more of the same next year in the nba playoffs.

Why are we blaming LeBron for the 2004 olympics? That's like blaming Brandon Rush for the Warriors losing the 2016 finals. Bran was a benchwarmer on the 04 team.

You mean when he was 18/19 years old?

Kobe made the playoffs at the same age.

Of course he was Eddie Jones' backup and most notable for shooting 4 straight air balls in crunch time against the Jazz

Yep, at 18-19yo

Kobe misses, in his prime

How synonymous to Kobe fans, ya know?

"prime kobe missing playoffs >> 22yo Lebron runner up in NBA Finals"

"Rookie Kobe missing Olympics >> 18yo Lebron winning Olympic medals"

How about 2006 FIBA tournament? Bran, Wade, Melo, and Bosh were elite players.
