Not sure if you're a fan of Jokic or Towns...but every answer in this thread is going to be for one player out of the two you mentioned.

Yeah. Even if the extremely unlikely happened and Towns regressed and Jokic somehow ended up out performing him you'd still look like an idiot predicting that at this stage because as of right now Towns is the clear answer without any reason to debate it. Passing/vision/quicker hands is the only thing Jokic does better. Towns is superior everywhere else as 20 year old rookies. Towns athletic ability gives him the higher ceiling given he's just as skilled/smart as Jokic.

Maybe if Towns doesn't improve and is an 18/10 guy and Jokic somehow manages to be a 16/10/4 guy and Denver makes the playoffs and Minny finishes in the lottery again? Alot of things would need to happen for Jokic to be the answer here. Guess if Towns get injured or something.

Jokic would be my choice after Towns for 2nd year players tho.

Porzingis > Jokic

Debatable. Towns is clearly above all young players, not much of a debate to be had currently.

Porzingis > Jokic
Potentially. But its really close right now. I'd even give Jokic the offensive edge.

Defensive numbers would suggest there pretty close. Porzingis is a better rim protector and better at blocking shots which is more valuable for a big man. Jokic is a better rebounder, better inside, better passer. Kristaps is a better 3 point shooter and a better shooter overall but the gap isn't massive. Not as big as say the gap between them inside or as guys that can create for others where Jokic is clearly superior.

The only different between there rookie season was Porzingis was drafted 4th overall and walked into minutes/shots from day 1. Jokic was drafted a year earlier but there the same age. Porzingis has the insane size/athletic ability combo that probably gives him the higher ceiling and had better raw stats like 14 PPG his rookie season. Wouldn't argue against someone taking Porzingis over Jokic, but just as good of a case for Jokic.

Jokic vs towns?

I'm just excited it's even a debate at this point. Bodes very well for Denver.
