From time to time there are shows that released as films and they usually tend to suck compared to their show counterparts. But rarely is there films that become tv shows.

I just saw 'Everybody Wants Some' and felt it would be a great show.

Which other film should have it's own tv show?

"Eye in the Sky" should be "Homeland"

Hear me out: Shawshank. Tell me that couldn't have been made into like a 5 season Oz-type show without sacrificing any of its plot/message/whatever. Only downside would be probably not getting a guy like Morgan Freeman or Robbins.

there are advantages to having a mini series on hbo or netflix over making a film.

Plenty really

Take any good crime drama and package it up into a longer, drawn out and detailed version

Take The Departed for example, or Heat..

I'd wager one season or something.. Anything longer and you're really asking for more than what usually one feature film can offer, unless that is you are really changing things up.

The trick is for the world that's created to be interesting enough to explore multiple stories within it. It certainly helps if the characters are interesting enough to follow through multiple stories too, but it really requires the world to be interesting more than the characters even.

Eyes Wide Shut would've been a great HBO series. Lord of the Rings could've been broken out. Star Wars could've been broken out. End of Watch would've made a good series.

That would be awesome.

I thought The Last Man on Earth with Will Forte would have worked better as a single 1.5 hour long movie. Just stretch out the first episode and be done with it.

I could see Heat being a season of True Detective.

This is becoming less and less true. In recent years we have gotten Bates Motel (Psycho), Hannibal (Silence of the Lambs series), Minority Report, 12 Monkeys, Evil Dead, Scream, Teen Wolf, etc.

Oh man, I'd kill for a Michael Mann bank robbers series.

That's what I was gonna say, and that's a great example. The series uses the world of the movie, but otherwise is unrelated, and is just telling different stories within the world.

If you liked end of watch, you might find southland enjoyable. They share pretty much the same world (2 cops in gangbanger LA).

I've got some intention of checking out Southland. I know a girl who was a dead body on an episode.

She's really making her mark on the acting world, isn't she? :lol

X-Men should have been done as a live action TV show years ago.

I believe fox has it in development right now. Once they do you know Wolverine will not show up until season 5.

TV doesn't have the budget to make a convincing X-Men show IMO.

Yeah, she doesn't sound very bright, so I don't think it was in the cards. But she did some modelling, not fashion stuff, she's just way too short, but was really involved in makeup, body paint type of modelling. She's plenty hot. And that was a long time ago. I believe one of the people she did some bodypaint work with got a gig doing makeup on the show and they used her briefly in a scene. I tried to find it once to confirm it, but it's not listed anywhere.

Wouldn't work for me. That cartoon holds too special of a place, and I couldn't look at them separately.

The one cbm that stands out to me is Ghost Rider. I'd like to see what writers could do telling the story of who Johnny Blaze was, how he became the rider and introducing Mephisto when it's not all jammed into the first hour of a movie.

Production value would be too costly I'm afraid.
