Nice handles. Probably end up being a taller version of Anthony Davis.

Isn't it a bit early? lol

I mean most of these 'Next Jordan' 'Next Lebron' 'Next Kobe' don't really fulfill expectations , do they?

Wiggins been known in this forum since 2009. Just found this video after searching for some Kevin Durant High school highlights.

Kid already has the shooting skills, and shot blocking ability. Just needs to gain some weight in his mid teens.

He's got a pretty quick release too, nice.

EDIT: 3rd video says he's 6'2 and I'm more inclined to believe that height. Check out the adults in the background, he's not much taller than them.

Must be a typo graphical error. He's now listed at 6'5". He was measured at 6'4" last year without shoes.

Are you serious? 2009?
Isn't that like age 14-13 for him?

I'm not from the USA,
And I rarely hear about players until they reach college, and even then it's on March.

Kinda amazing to think people recognize talent so early :applause:

Better range on his jumper than say, Tatum.. he has great range

But I'm not sold on his handle or that his crossover will be an effective one on the NBA level..

However, he appears incredibly quick - quicker than Tatum, so his handle could be more effective than Tatum because of that alone

Personally, I think it's all about Kuminga ay the end of the day, although Bates will be solid

Anthony Edwards is the future.

Haven't really watched enough Kuminga, but I think I agree with this assessment. What stands out to me about Bates is just how fluid/agile and skilled he is compared to other "elite" 6'8" wings to come out recently. Maybe his handle isn't NBA level yet, but it can improve a lot, and I regularly see break down 6-foot guards off the dribble and pull out some insanely crafty maneuvers. Unlike other big wings, Bates is actually a guard and would probably still be a high-major recruit at 6'4."

As it is now, he does look like a next KD, but we have to wait and see. His frame will only fill out and he's a very good athlete now, but he can probably improve in that area still. I'm certain he'll be an all-star.

He is now 16 years old. Still the no.1 prospect in his draft class. Just committed to Michigan. He dropped 63 points, 21 rebounds in high school.

It is embarrassing, and usually pointless unless you're a high school coach. Sometimes you see a kid like this though, who seems sent from the basketball gods.

He is probably one of the reasons why Commissioner Silver is going to allow high school players to enter the nba draft once again by 2022. He's just testing the water if his high school to d league program become successful. He might lower the age limit in the nba.

He turned 17. Emoni Bates is going to be the no.1 reason Why Doncic won't win several MVP's in this decade. He's going to be as good as Kevin Durant. At 17 he is already better than Brandon Ingram.

How is this one going to turn out? Seems to have a terrible attitude, mixed with poor parenting and guidance, as well as sh!t athletic measurables. He is skilled though.

I agree. I overate the kid. He should have play 1 more year in high school. Bates was not yet ready in the NCAA, And Penny Hardaway ruined his confidence. Hopefully he bounce back in his sophomore season.

What’s crazy is I heard a lot about him when he was younger but didn’t hear his name a single time during the college basketball season. I didn’t even know he played for Memphis. (Granted I don’t watch college basketball super close, but watch enough)

Sounds like he underperformed at Memphis? Is he still highly touted? Haven’t heard his name in a while. The flame died out

He struggled in his freshman season. Memphis were a better team when he was not playing. Jalen Duren was the better player.

Ouch. 6’9” with a 6’7” wingspan. A laughable 24” vertical.

That was his freshman year in highschool tho right? Or freshman in college?

See I remember watching Memphis and everyone was talking about Duren. Don’t even remember Bates name being mentioned.
