No one really gives a shit about any sport other than cricket. Literally non-existent funding and sports infrastructure. Politics/influence play a massive role in who gets the spot as well. It's not always the best athlete representing his/her sport.

Also, most Indian parents want their kids to either do engineering or medicine or one of the financial fields. They feel like sports are a waste of time. That's why a lot of schools and colleges/universities do not even have an athletics department.

Last Olympics, India won 6 medals. Everyone was elated and it was the talk for all of two days. No one gave a shit about the Olympics until a couple of weeks ago.

Hard to produce world class athletes when you have poor sanitation.

Usually most developed countries are better at sport for obvious reasons.

Sports culture also influences a lot. For example, my country, Spain, is mediocre at Olympics, and good at popular sports such as Soccer, Basketball, Motorsports, Tennis or Cycling. We have bad support for most sports, and quite bad or none for minority sports.

Spain has a pretty good history in track. Cacho was an absolute monster and they have had some solid other runners. Not on the level of Fermin but def good runners.

Genetically inferior at least when it comes to body type and athleticism.

China literally runs concentration camps. India doesn't give a flying ****. India literally deals with it the worst way possible though.

You'll notice China started doing well after its industrialisation period...

Give India time.

China's industrialization period and doing good in the Olympics are completely unrelated.

China only started to become good once they started to take children out of preschool and force them to train 24/7 non stop for decades.

Their policy is sickening.

India just doesn't give a shit about sports.

Why do you think LeBron took a giant shit on your face??

03-24-2016, 08:38 AM
Lebron will definitely not win a championship because he has no integrity or honour and can not win as the man. In Miami he was a third string behind D wade and Pat Riley. Here is a clown 10x worse than Dwight Howard and takes the team on an endless emotional rollercoaster. One minute he is patting you on the back next minute saying you ain't worth what I paid you type of sh1t. He is gonna flop again and then leave for another team or cry until they bring a friend of his in. What he doesn't realise is that a beta performs best under alpha leadership and he doesn't want to come to terms that he is a beta emotionally which is why he can't lead and can't win a championship. Watch this season as he puts his head down again in the finals and gives up.

The 3 greatest Indian basketball players are Bollar, some other guy I can't remember the name) and Satnum Singh. And all 3 of those guys have been in the NBA long enough to get a cup of coffee. None will ever be anything more than a 15th man off the bench if they are lucky.

India may not push basketball that much, but it doesn't appear they have a lot of talent in that area either. Just because they haven't practiced as much doesn't mean they would be capable of producing athletes good at basketball.

That is why you rarely see players from certain countries ever playing for the NBA much less competing in the Olympics via basketball.

I don't think they even have one single old in the history of the Olympics

Only if rape is an Olympic sport...

US would be their only rival, led by none other than Kobe of course.

There is always enough talent in a population of 1.3 billion.

Problem is that they just don't have the resources (they could easily if they wanted to) to train these kids (voluntarily train) from a very young age. If India really cared they could hire a ton of amazing instructors and popularize the sport and in 20 years they will start pumping out NBA players.

They have 26 total medals (all time medal count) when you combine the summer and Olympic games.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/All-time_Olympic_Games_medal_table

9 gold
6 silver
11 bronze

I stood behind an Indian at a pedestrian crossing yesterday, and when it went green she was incredibly slow off the mark.

Bad genetics.

They have done a lot. India, China, and Brazil have made a lot of progress over the last few decades. China has made the most but many people have some qualms about how they've gone about it (Great Leap Forward etc).
