View Full Version : Top 5 weakest Finals teams of the post Jordan era

Not an easy list to come up with, but I would have to go with the following:

2000 Pacers - Aging team whose best player could only average 18 ppg and hit spot up 3's, aka the Kyle Korver of the 90s

2001 Sixers - One man show led by possibly the most overrated player in NBA history. Their "star" shot 38% for the playoffs that year :oldlol: :facepalm

2002 Nets - No explanation needed.

2009 Magic - Dumb coach forced their starting PG back into the rotation after he had been out for months, ruining chemistry and any chance of being competitive.

2010 Celtics - Featured 3 washed up stars well past their primes, along with multiple injuries to key pieces like Perkins and Garnett. They only got to the Finals because all the other stars in the East were stuck with lottery rosters.

There have been a lot of weak finals teams in the post MJ era, but these take are by far the worst. Any championships that were won against these squads come with a bit of an asterisk.

100% agree

Ironically they all faced the weakest "MJ clone" of the post Jordan era each time :lol

How the f*ck do you lose a series when the other team has a 6-24 cancer shooting his team out of the game??

Interesting how LeBron-led teams lost to 40% of this list WITH homecourt advantage.

LeBron is now officially out of my top 10 after this eye-opening thread. Thanks for your research, OP.

Deserve an honorary mention for sure. Any player who could get THAT team to the Finals would have to be the GOAT

2012 OKC: Star player is a stick, the other is a low-IQ chunk of meat.

2013 Spurs: Old asf, best player is 37 years old, only got there b/c low-IQ meat got injured.

2015 Cavs: Lead by low-IQ chunk of meat like 2012 OKC

2016 Warriors: half the team injured or unable to play. Basically a D-League team; nothing like the monster in the RS when the entire team is healthy and able to play.

The 2010 Celtics roster makes you cringe? They had 4 all-stars.

and yet lebron still couldn't get by the 2009 magic without jameer nelson and the 2010 celtics despite having homecourt advantage.

You fgts are so insecure.

If this is true then this pushes Lebron out for being top 10 GOAT for FAILING TO beat this WEAK Orlando and Boston team.
