You can't say for sure who is better when both still haven't entered their prime. Wall is a notch more athletic/explosive but Lillard has "the man" type confidence. He believes in himself when he steps on the court and that always counts. Lillard is also a more dangerous, all around scorer while Wall relies on athleticism to get his.
Wall has the higher ceiling but I would take Lillard. Self belief is important. People who don't play don't understand this. People can sense alpha dog/beta mentality. All this stuff matters.

Lol what kind of stupid bullshit is this post. How do you know wall doesn't have that mentality?

Wall is a better all around player, Dame is a better shooter and closer/clutch.

True. No way to know for sure but I go with the eye test. I sense it more in Lillard. But like I said, Wall has the higher ceiling.

i've seen a lot of dame doing big things in big moments and generally being pretty damn good.. i know hes mostly just an offensive player, and john wall has that rondo vibe where he can do a bit of everything outside scoring, but it just seems wall hasnt done anything when it counts or in the playoffs.. he plays in a weak ass conference and has generally had decent support but never gets nothin done. Seems like he doesnt have that extra competitive gear.. that jeff teague syndrome, might just be satisfied with them checks

I have huge questions about both of them. Both of them leave just as much to be desiered as scorers in my opinion. Dame had one great playoff series in 2014, but ever since then he's been fairly awful. Both of them shoot just under 40% in the playoffs. Dame relies too much on his 3ball, and does almost nothing when it's off. Wall is a great athlete, but his jumper is also too shaky sometimes, and in 2014 Pacers had success when they made Wall a halfcourt player. I think he's better with that now.
I would say Dame because statistically he just turned in a superstar season (26 points on a 56TS%). At the same time, Wall can make defensive plays and is a more creative passer, and that's always a factor even when your shot isn't falling. I usually go with the "scorer," but Dame lack of offensive versatility makes him less efficient in the playoffs, so I think I'd rather have Wall, who is prob. always a factor.

Wall is a much better defender and averages more assists, he's a consistent double double in a lot of games. Dame can get HOT much quicker, he's a better scoring threat than Wall. Honestly it's whether you prefer to control the game(Wall) or to bury the opponent(Lillard).

If you give me the exact same level of coaching and supporting talent I'd rather have Wall.
Those Blazer teams before LMA were beastly, Matthews-Batum-Aldridge-Lopez is a nasty 2-5 to back Lillard. And now he has a stud in McCollum next to him, with a bunch of young talent like Crabbe, Aminu, Harkless, etc. Wall has had a bunch of clowns, glass man in Beal, Gortat... People always talk about Cousins or Davis as examples of talent being wasted...Wall is right there with them imo. He's consistently underappreciated because of the trash he puts up with in Washington.
Wall in a vacuum is a better player to build around imo. Better floor general, substantially better defender..if you put shooters/firepower around him like Lillard has, I think you win more games.

the Wiz have had 5 guys in double figure scoring in the playoffs each year they made it. Wall has had the lowest efficiency out of any of them. He's a 47 TS, 101 ortg player in the playoffs.. just god awful. He hasnt proven himself to be anything yet in this league when it counts.. just a ball dominator who puts up stats because of it.

They score in double figures because of Wall. That playoff run Beal and Pierce are the only players on that team who could do that on their own, and Beal misses literally 20 games a year and Pierce is on his way out. They wouldn't even sniff the playoffs without Wall. Like it wouldn't even be remotely close either. That team is completely reliant on him creating offense. I really don't care what his TS% or ORTG numbers look like. It's pretty obvious watching that team that they'd completely collapse over the court of a full season without him.
And "proven" in the playoffs is a silly criticism considering Lillard is really not that special at all in the playoffs outside of one shot that drastically inflates his reputation.
