Richest man alive? That's a bit of a hyperbole. Venture capital is hit and miss. Majority of startups fail, although he could get lucky like Yahoo's $1 billion investment in Alibaba which is now worth $25 billion.

All in all, it's a very tough field with plenty of competition, many of them with deeper pockets than Kobe ever had (like Peter Thiel). Doubt he will become the richest man ever, more likely a single digit billionaire (if he's extremely fortunate).

I think Elon Musk will become the richest if things go as planned.
