I see this everywhere, the wife/girlfriend is the one driving and the guy sat shotgun. What's the deal here? Every foreigner wants an explanation.

I don't see the problem either, but I don't agree that this is true. I usually see the dude drive.

No problem at all but it is an actual real thing in the US.

It's the same in any country with proper DUI laws, when I go out to dine with my girl, somebody has to stay sober to drive, guess who gets to drink all the time :lol if I haven't got anything to drink I always drive her around though.

I do believe this is at the heart of it. It's not a massive trend, but it's definitely more common than it used to be. I think some of it has to do with kids too. I think most mothers that handle most of the child care, not necessarily the ones that work, but the ones that do the majority of the child care, are more used to driving with the kids in the car, and just feel more comfortable driving themselves than having their husbands drive.

I can't stand not being the driver whether it's to the supermarket or across the country...

Personally I think driving can be annoying sometimes...
I have to drive everywhere.... F*cking Everywhere.
So if she wants to drive... I'm all for it.

Is OP a Saudi? Who cares if woman drive?
Despite my girlfriends parents being very wealthy (they gave her sister a 2015 BMW) my girlfriend still drives her 2006 accord, dents from several wrecks and all.
We talked about her buying a new car the other day... but her response is "why"?
I drive everywhere. I've never been in her car except when we went to get her oil changed (she's afraid to fall in the hole pulling into the garage). She's never driven me anywhere; I drive everywhere we go. So what's the point? Buy a new car to drive back and forth to work?
But I do notice a lot of females driving when with their SO. That's weird to me.

When we take her car she drives and when we take my car I drive. Pretty simple explanation. Different dynamic if you're married but same type of deal I imagine.

id rather drive my family around, than to have any other person drive. obviously i'd be willing to split long distance trips, but hopefully with another dude like me.
