A year or two ago he was all about anti-sjw, anti-feminist, anti-PC but now he's changed for some reason.

so tired of trump supporters promoting safe spaces. you don't have to look past Insidehoops to see who talks about safespaces, the only ones doing it are Nick Young and 9er.

You avoid hearing opinions that don't line up with your own.
Also just makes you look like a little bitch.

i seriously question whether you actually know what a safe space is. you have to literally be some type of autistic to be against regular safe spaces. not ones that are bullshit, but the ones that are done properly, like at the college i go to

Those are probably the ones that the U of C is referring to anyways - retreatment of ideas and disagreement with others.
Plus, U of C is simply saying they don't condone it or create a safe space like other universities have in the past.
They aren't necessarily disallowing them.
Give an example of one at your college. I'm curious.

Yes. I'm curious to see an example of a "properly done" campus safe space as well.

there's an LGBT group and i think a separate room for them if they want to take about issues pertaining to that group or just want be around people that are like them. i have no issue with this and i don't really see why anyone else would. it's literally just a space for those people to talk to others like them. same goes for other groups that are similar.

Won't reveal where I go but it's just a dedicated room or place on campus where people that are like minded can talk about shit that pertains to them and stuff that may be offensive to people there can get you kicked out. You don't need to be gay, or black, or an international student or Asian or whatever to join or attend. Just follow the rules that are set out. That's it. For the majority of colleges I'd say that's all there is to it.

I guess that can be construed as a safe space but I don't think it's really the same thing.
Not sure the university needs to make one for them though...all the other groups just make their own group that are meant for like minded people.
Phillipino group, black engineers group, Mexican associated of engineers and scientists, etc.

i really don't know how that doesn't apply as a safe space. AA is a safe space for instance.
the university isn't necessarily making it, just giving them a space on campus. it's pretty much all student run.

AA is a place to receive support coping with addiction.
College is a place to learn. How can you learn without being exposed to other views?

So which groups are allowed to do this?
Who decides which groups are allowed to have "us only" spaces? Can white people have them?
Also, if the complaint is that particular groups are not accepted in society, are not understood properly, are not included... then the means of improving this is to isolate and separate themselves?
Would excluding others from being around this group help or hurt the perception of stereotypes and lack of understanding?

You mean a meeting. It's silly to call it a safe space because who's going to go into a room and disturb them in the first place? Other than maybe a pro-abortion meeting, people on the right rarely make the effort or care enough to disturb typical liberal groups anyway (actually there are lots of pro-life liberals). The only people on a college campus that actually need a safe space, are right leaning groups because liberals always feel the need to disturb, protest and shut them down. But since they tend to value freedom over convenience, it's a moot* point.
If "properly done" and set in room, rather than out in the open, where the "safe space" becomes an attention seeking meeting that purposely hinders and annoys people trying to go from point A to B on campus, there really is no need to call these left leaning group meetings "safe spaces" because NO ONE CARES. Like I said, the exception might be pro abortion groups but on a college campus I even doubt that.

no dude, it isn't silly to call it that. because that is quite literally what a safe space is. people try to redefine them to fit their own definitions.
the rest of the shit you just posted doesn't really happen. a few rare cases where some things go wrong does not define the entire concept of a safe space.

Well their sexuality wouldnt matter as long as theyre white. Theyd be allowed in places designated as "white only." Busses, bathrooms, dorms, drinking fountains etc.
Is that the same thing as what youre talking about?
yes. not sure if you know this but there are gay white people too
So you can have a safe space as a white person... if you're gay? :coleman:
