What were the main reasons that the Roman Empire fell?
Because it became too large and complex? Because of too much indulgence in wealth and luxury? Because of the rise of Christianity which weakened Rome's old martial spirit?
Political Corruption
Internal Strife
Devalued currency (they stopped making 'gold' coins out of gold)
Outside invaders
The Roman soldier used to be the best in all the land until... hundreds of years of pussification and filling the ranks with mercenaries and people who didn't deserve to be there. Their armies became weak. They went bankrupt. They began starving.
Then thought 'yo, let's split the country in two to make it more manageable'...

We've done all of those things. Remember when coins used to be worth ACTUAL money? Now they're not worth shit when melted.

Too much decadence.
They introduced their own version of feminism. The culture became soft. Gaulish invaders were allowed to live in Rome. Romans began adopting Gaulish fashions. When they had their chance, the Gauls took over.
Rome literally opened its gates to invaders with smiles and allowed them to take down the empire from the inside.

The Roman Empire fell because of actually one reason.
I have theorized that it would be simply impossible to maintain an empire as believed to be that the Roman Empire fell literally due to size and they also constantly ignored border agreements and claimed The World and land of Albion under Roman control, which was believed to be as big as The Roman Empire at peak size was.
Even Genghis Khan, despite being nomads, showed that it wouldn't work if the empire was constantly moving amongst the Steppes.

except for pennies. IIRC, even with the zinc plating, the amount of copper in a penny is worth somewhere between 1.5 - 2.0 cents. there's a cottage industry of folks who melt down pennies and sell the copper to metal dealers.
at this point i would think many banks impose (or should impose) a limit to how many boxes of pennies they're willing to give you, even as one of their own customers.

Actually, the Roman military had a system where the generals of each legion would be extremely wealthy statesman who would raise and train their legions with their own money rather than money from the state. In return these generals would get honor, privileges, positions of power, etc.
The soldiers would look to their general for spoils of war. They would get land from him after their conquests in various lands. Their loyalty was to general and not to the state because their general would reward them. This system is what made Rome great and allowed Rome to create powerful legions in a short notice.
I would say the fall of Rome was because of incompetent and clinically retarded rulers that would assume the throne. Their military was always strong, even to the last days. Augustus may have been the GOAT but his successors were retards. I would also say their over expansion hurt them in the end as well as it took a drain on their budget.

Because they started giving away citizenship too loosely.
