View Full Version : Is there an NBA play that's more inspirational than LeBron's chasedown block?

Honest question...

I've been thinking about it, and I can't think of a single more inspiring play. Game winning shots are a little different. They are very memorable moments... but there's something about a pure effort block to prevent a fast break opportunity for a 73 win team on their home floor to save a championship. The play literally embodies the idea that if you want something, chase it down.

MJ stripping Malone comes to mind too, or Havlicek stealing the ball come to mind too. Obviously this is a very subjective thing, but what other plays are just straight inspiring?

Kobes last play against the Jazz this year

Passing the ball to a wide open Jordan Clarkson for the throwdown dunk

I can't think of something better but,

Bosh's offensive rebound that led to Ray Allen's 3,
Chris Paul deciding to guard Durant for stretches in their series, just shows you the guts and confidence this guy had,
Kobe shooting the free throws after tearing his ACL. Legendary.

and last but not least,
And I know this guy is considered a scrub, and I know most people here dislike him.

But Derrick rose, after all those horrific injuries, still trying, still believing, that's just inspiriational for me, the guy felt tremendous amount of pain, so often, and he's keeping his chin up.

Great player or not, he's one strong human being.

it's not only MJ stripping Malone, but that entire sequence is can be considered as best clutch performance in NBA finals history. The quick drive, steal then the last shot are like 3 game winning clutch plays in a span of 60 seconds. Imagine Lebron doing this: a drive leads to dunk that ties the game then that chasedown block followed by him hitting a 3 instead of Kyrie to seal the game. I couldn't imagine the impact it could've brought Lebron had he done that.

A huge meltdown tbh.

bobo very much needs a support team and some pamphlets on crisis resources, as well as the number of an emergency hotline he can call when thoughts of Lebron's third title are making him suicidal.

The Lebron family, we are dominant and supreme and do not accept challenges to our authority, BUT we are benevolent. We will help those who want help.

To answer OP's question:

The only thing you could argue is MORE inspirational than a Lebron chase-down block would have to be a Lebron pre-game junk flash. That's that shit that makes you feel ALIVE. Just knowing that humans have the capability of being endowed that well... It just makes you feel like you can do anything.

It's beautiful.
