What does ISH say about Fallon the allrounder?

his laugh is obnoxiously fake. many rumors exist of him being a drunk.

Conan is the best late night show host.

He is the worst of all time by a good amount.

Fallon is a tool. I have zero doubt that he will be off the air in a few years.

Conan is the best late night show host.
Agreed.

personally i don't have a problem with fallon, not that i sit down and watch him on the regular. he's got his strengths, like impressions, skits, singing and having fun with his audience. he's also got his weaknesses- like joke-telling, turning a bad joke in to a funny reaction, and interviewing.

overall he's pretty much the perfect kind of host NBC wants for its tonight show-- don't rock the boat and host a fun but not necessarily funny show. a good successor to leno.

i've googled this a bit, and my takeaway is that the man likes to party and is often injury-prone when drinking. that's not necessarily the same thing as being a drunk, tho. he might just as easily be a weekend drinker, when he knows he can cut loose and doesn't have to do a show the next day.

not even close. history is littered with late night shows that crashed and burned, mostly because their hosts were dreadful, like chevy chase, magic johnson, ron reagan, whoopi goldberg, etc. even some that lasted awhile were pretty terrible. my personal choices are people like arsenio hall and jay leno.

I don't know why but I find he comes across as very bland and fake.

Definitely the worst talk show host I've seen.

This is the reason why I can't stand him. All he does is skits and the like. It's the lowest form of humor. If I wanted to watch that I would watch SNL or something. There's only so much karaoke I can watch until it gets boring. He's pretty much the complete opposite of Leno, who I actually liked.

I honestly could not give a stuff about a some 2 bit dancing singing celebrity brown nose.

He'd be as genuine as Kim K.

the giddy happy guys are hot right now.

Fallon and Corden seem over the top affable, but they are the two most popular.

Needling hosts like Colbert and to a lesser extent Seth Myers don't seem to play as well anymore.

millenial pu$$ification I reckon.

His laugh is so fake, I cringe sometimes. I wonder how his guests feel when he does that.

this generation is certainly playing to this tune. it's fvcking disgusting sometimes. i like good natured people in general and enjoy a good conversation, but holy sh1t these giddy fruitcakes are running rampant right now. there's an individual in our group of friends who is the "let's sit down and share our feelings" type of person who acts like the most noble white knight, yet likes to call himself a "savage" ladies man. :facepalm

i completely disagree. skits can be an artform, and memorable ones can change a culture. i think even the ancient greeks and other civs had farcical skits and the like.

with a show like the tonight show, the skits were always going to be tame, going back to the 50's or so. but skits are one of fallon's strengths, which is why he does them. leno's schtick was mildly amusing jokes, which was why he stuck to that formula.

i don't think either of them were qualified to lick johnny carson's boot, of course.

Leno was easily the most quick witted conversationalist of any late night host probably ever, but that's the thing fewest people have an appreciation for. But for those who do enjoy skits (which I do as well, if theyre good) I can understand why his show lacked appeal - his skits really were dreadfully cheesy.

his laugh is obnoxiously fake.

that laugh is so fking cringe-worthy to watch.

he tries too hard. he's obviously rehearsed bits over and over, and that's good on his effort, but he doesn't have the flow to let the jokes come out naturally. he still occasionally does it like a high school kid, not a polished professional.

Yeah, but artform and memorable doesnt really come to mind when I watch Fallon. I don't hate all skits, especially well though-out ones. But the type from Fallon I can only take so much.. personal preference, I guess.

Never seen his show.

He really isn't funny. His show mostly consists of playing board games and such with celebrities. His sketches are really not funny. Sometimes the gimmicky things with celebrities are "entertaining," but not funny, which is what I really want from late night talk shows. His only funny consistent bit is Thank You Cards, but that is 5 minutes per week.

Watch the SNL 40 after party with Prince. Fallon clearly was more drunk than anybody else in the clip. To me it makes sense to drink to the level of everybody else, but nobody wants to be "that guy" that is easily the most drunk at a party.

what about colbert...?

if you liked him as "stephen colbert," but you don't care for him now, why is that?

That bit gets on my nerves every time, so in that way it is consistent. I agree with the rest of your summation too.

Leno is much worse as far as top rated/mainstream hosts go. His jokes were so corny and cringe worthy

thread shouldve stopped after two posts. guy is so fake, it ruins all his interviews.

you cant have a good interview with that guy. you could put literally the most fascinating person in history on his show and he'd make it worse than c-span.
