Hello chaps, I have a question regarding internet connectivity.

For the last few weeks, the internet on my PC has been in and out. Some pages need to be reloaded in order to view them. I'll also see my WiFi connectivity icon go from connected to unconnected and back.

Any ideas?

who's your Internet Service Provider? (ISP)

Comcast(you're east coast so i'm assuming so). You can google comcast connectivity problems.

Anyhow, you can try changing your DNS to have a more reliable connection. I've gotten rid of these silly outages by doing so:

I use Google's DNS.

Alternatively, you can go to your City's Subreddit and either search for your issues or make a new thread. Guaranteed you will find help because people from your vicinity are more than likely facing the same issue.

Comcast.

I'm trying the DNS thing right now. Let me see what happens.

I'm ignorant on stuff like this. I had to Google DNS first to see what the hell you were talking about.

OK I have a question.

Under my "Active Networks" when I open up the Network and Sharing Center it shows the name of my Router/Modem and under it it says Public Network. Shouldn't this be Private?

And if so, how do I change?

that option is available in case you have other computer's in the same house that you want to communicate with. think of an office, they would set all their PC's with this private option because they want all of their computers communicating with each other and the internet.

a public network will offer greater protection than a home network when you're out and about. In fact, it's the safest Windows network setting that you can use. in this case a 'home' network is a private network
