*Pick one team
*Try not to go for the Cavs or GSW unless you mean it.
*It's okay if you switched teams, but if you did say why
*Explain why you supoprt them
*Result for the next season that you would be satisfied with
For me it's the Timberwolves as most of you know.
Why:
First NBA team I watched live, they won that game. (2012 I think,)
I watched Rubio and he was awesome. I think he just got back from that ACL injury. But yeah, after looking them up online I saw that they were pretty bad overall, but I decided to stick with them cause why the hell not.
Result I'm hoping for this year:
Maybe 8th or 7th seed, and give the top contender a scare in the first round. Maybe like OKC did with the Lakers early on. Also a MIP for one of our players would be tremendous, maybe KAT jumps to 25 PPG? Who knows.

Team: The bucks
Why:Im from milwaukee so it's sentimental to me and i support all of the wisconsin teams Packers/badgers/brewers ETC. Also because giannis is the future and i think he will be a top 5 player in the league soon.
Result im hoping for: Basically same as op, i think they should make the playoffs and beable to ATLEAST win 1-2 games anymore or an upset would be just icing on the cake. Although, if giannis/jabari parker have breakout seasons they could do even bigger things.

76ers: AI is the reason I started watching basketball, so as I kept watching him I started supporting the Sixers altogether, even after he left. Plus I have some fam in Philly.
Since they're never in the PO lately, I support the Cavs because Kyrie/Lebron are my 2 favorite players.

Knicks because I've been a native NYer my whole life. They are gonna be shit next year though and will barely make the 8th seed.

Feeling pretty good about KD. Gonna be nice to watch him rack up a couple rings for my hometown team. I support his decision. He might or might not regret it... because he really was a hero in OKC... being the man in California is a little different but if little boy Steph can do it.. KD certainly can. I'm sure he's enjoying the weather and lifestyle a lot better.
on the OKC side of things I get to see Westbrook go ham and potentially nab an MVP. :confusedshrug:
I'm on some Hannah Montana shit bro... best of both worlds.

Under that hypothetical, he gets ejected down 3-0 in the 3rd quarter of game 4 ... probably after a drive to the hoop where he gets blocked by KD and a foul isn't called

Nothing is worse than a poser who talked shit about Cleveland when Lebron left them and went to the Heat and said Cleveland was a bunch of losers and then when Lebron came back to Cleveland, they pretended like they never talked shit. Teams: Primarily, the Bucks, and secondarily, the Lakers.
Why: While the pecking orders have been upended over time as my NBA fandom became more all-embracing, it all started with the Lakers--specifically stemming from one of its linchpins in Kobe.
Living in Nevada at the time without any state-tenanted NBA team, California teams were the closest to the contiguous state; out of all of them, I gravitated to the Lakers the most while I was mesmerized by Kobe--ultimately my genesis into my NBA fandom. I was insular to the rest of the NBA long enough that I naturally developed a lingering fandom for the Lakers as a team--even after I moved away from Nevada and--more unexpectedly--after Kobe retired.
Being a Wisconsite now, the Bucks are my proximate team and have become my favorite team as such due to their locality--superseding the Lakers as such in any of their intersections. Whenever the two teams face each other, I always suspend my Lakers fandom as I root for the Bucks; but if the Bucks were to be eliminated from the title-contention picture earlier, I could still find Lakers success as a good consolatory prize.
Hopeful expectations: Realistically speaking, I want the Bucks to at least renew their defensive identity--a fulcrum behind their renaissance in the 2014-15 season and feisty first-round match-up against the Bulls in that year's playoffs.
Simply put, the Greg Monroe experiment failed miserably; we've already declared that early enough last season, but it's time for the front office to formalize it by trading him. He is absolute shit and has become a glaringly weak link in our defensive schemes, but therein also lies the problem; his stock has been debased so much from it that they're hard-pressed to trade him, because whenever GMs look at how much our defensive-rankings have plummeted compared to '15, they'll see Greg Montoe first when they contrast the two seasons.
Whatever happens to him, we want him gone moving into the future. With his removal and a return to the playoffs, it can only take an upturn as our wealth of young talent ripens over time.
As for the Lakers: modestly speaking, I just want to see actual progress in the rebuilding stage. With 2 seasons of the Kobe-farewell tour and one of the worst modern-NBA coaches at the helm in the rear-view mirror, rebuilding beckons--and more paramountly, in the right direction.
I'm not overly finicky over the win-loss column on-paper; I'm more concerned about improvement, which you can convince me of even without a winning record.
Will Luke Walton end the curse of substandard coaching, or will be another Brian Shaw--a putatively young, bright mind and respected assistant coach who couldn't translate to the head-coaching role? Will the young talent ripen fast? Will they start to develop a viable system? Will we have a clear-cut leader to step up to the plate in the stead of the retired Kobe Bryant?
These are the questions I'm ruminating over moving into the season, not the win count at this time.

I'm a Heat fan because I was born and raised in south Florida (Ft Lauderdale area).
I'm actually excited about this season, despite the organization having a rough summer. It's a new chapter, and the expectations are obviously a lot different than they've been for the better part of the past decade. We're probably not a playoff team, but I'm looking forward to seeing the young guys develop.

Due to my status as an immigrant that never lived in a city for more than a few years, and the lack of American sports fandom from family relatives, I was left on the outside looking in growing up.
So these days I support great games - particularly when great teams, peopled by great players, engage in a battle of the ages.
Maybe that's why on basketball games I always stock the regular teams with legendary players, or play a full season with 30 champions. :oldlol:

Been watching the NBA for two seasons but have only recently started supporting the 76ers. Mainly because I wanna see Ben Simmons become the next big thing, but also because Embiid is (finally) healthy so we can see his potential. Saric too, we've just got a really interesting team, I want to see what this can potentially turn into.
Honestly, I'm just hoping we can finish this season with a record that isn't too embarrasing, it's a long process from here.

Started watching more in 2011 in the finals. Didn't really know who Lebron was other than as a good player but I was rooting against them for some reason. The following season, the first team I saw play was the warriors. I saw some lightskinned player who looked frail. I asked a family friend who he was then went into a super long rant about how Hes a beast and would be the next big thing because of his shooting. I became sold as a warriors fan at that point.

Still, you don't want to see a playoff spot? In the East it's not much to ask for on most seasons.
That is my expectation, and that's what I meant by renewing our defensive identity (albeit, I could have stated it more explicitly); if we can re-establish that, it almost goes without saying that we can return to the playoffs.
It's been the paradigm for most also-fans in the Eastern Conference; while most playoffs-contenders have had a haphazard sense of direction in their half-court offensive systems--the case with us until Jason Kidd finally came to his senses and gave Giannis the latitude to play as a Point Forward--their defensive upsides have usually been redemptive enough to make the playoffs.
Much of our playoffs aspirations could pivot around whether or not Greg Montoe continues to don a Bucks jersey, because as long as he's a Carlos Boozer-level defensive liability, he's contractual dead weight; and as long as he's being played, he's jeopardizing our defense.
Are the playoffs still makable with him? Possibly, but much of that will hinge on Jason Kidd's continual self-development as a coach--will be more adaptable, lineup-wise, with Monroe than he was last season, for example?--and the developmental progression of our young talent, but the fact is that there's also a bit more parity in the Eastern Conference.
With the upsurgent Pacers and Knicks--two of the most rewardful off-seasons--and other young, talented teams on the rise, playoff berths aren't a gimme. There's probably no truly formidable title-contender outside of the reigning Cavaliers, but there still are enough intermediate-tier teams that it may take a bit more than a winning record to procure a playoffs spot there this season.
Team: Miami Heat
Reason I'm a Fan: Grew up in St. Louis, MO (no NBA team for decades), was a very casual NBA fan who almost never got to watch games until about 2011. Cheered for T-Mac and whatever team he was on till then. Been a LeBron fan for a while, too, but for whatever reason got more into NBA in the 2011 playoffs and followed the Heat and LeBron very closely in 2012 (I think I watched at least parts of 60+ Heat games that year IDK for sure. Maybe more, maybe less). When LeBron went back to Cleveland, I was too invested in the Heat team to stop caring about how they did. Still cheer for LeBron's individual success, although it's difficult for me when he plays the Heat (I tend to hope that never happens in the playoffs lol). Difficult for me now, as the Heat no longer have LeBron, Mario Chalmers, or Wade, who were my 3 favorite players from the big 3 Heat era.
Result I'm hoping for this year: A healthy Chris Bosh. At this point, I care less about how well he plays than about how healthy he is. I don't want Bosh to be in danger, and I would like him to be able to play the game he loves without worrying about his health. Since Wade left, I doubt the Heat will make the playoffs, especially if Bosh misses significant time. I am hoping Justise Winslow and Josh Richardson will show a lot improvement and develop into potential stars. Also hoping Hassan Whiteside will become a more willing passer.

basketball first team second ... I frankly dgaf who wins most of the time, I want to see good basketball. I'm originally from ny (living in europe for a long long time now) so I might have a bias towards the knicks, but I probably dislike that fagggot dolan so much that unless we are going to contend ( maybe when I'm 70) I can't even watch the games.. Love-hate relationship.
Because I am a basketball first, allegiance second fan I strongly dislike dumb and/or egotistical play (chucking, playing no defense, flopping, nigging, fake thugging) and enjoy good fundamental play.
Thus I have a strong dislike for teams with dumb/egotistical/nig/fake players like the :
- kobe lakers (kobe wasted more talent than anybody in league history)
- cousins kings (what a dumbass, whoever thinks this guy might someday contend as a key piece needs his head checked)
- rockets since morey (stats for the sake of stats, I've never seen a more pretentious dumbass)
- big 3 celtics (fake toughness as fck tbh : rondo a ***, pierce a fake thug, allen a ***, kg the biggest dike in the league, perkins, the horrible screens, they brought the collusion era, etc )
- gsw with their fcking screens and draymond green being a class A fagggot. A gimmicky team with poor tactical fundamentals tbh, which makes the miami cHeat era look civilized.
- old bulls (they beat the knicks  and had rodman, another dirty dumbass, also refs made jordan UNTOUCHABLE), other than that great basketball
- okc, that offense makes my eyes bleed, they had enormous talent and ISO-ISO-ISO-ISO-clear out-ISO-ISO-chuck a contested 3.
I also enjoy teams built on good fundamental players:
- spurs, duncan, best career since jordan :applause:
- big 3 heat, great basketball albeit a lot of fagggotry and collusion :oldlol: A bit on the fence with this one.
- mavs (carlisle is crazy underrated!), dirk is a class act and is second only to duncan at the PF spot (I saw barkley, kemp, malone ..).
- lebron is a great player, very underrated iq. an asshole though :( Still, the cavs play nice all-around ball and lebron is an unselfish, smart player.
- old portland with brandon roy
- 80s celtics :applause:

Bulls.
Born and raised in Chicago. Started watching in the early 90's, championship years, witnessed the GOAT. Obvious reasoning.
Only other team I cheered for was the Phil Jackson coached, and Kobe Bryant led Lakers. Grew up attached to PJ as "my coach." Bulls management alienated me as a fan during this period. Plus I loved the aesthetics to Kobe's game, carried the torch as MJ's little brother. And was massively in his corner against all the haters and when he was a lone gun on a terrible mid 2000s team.
And that's the story of my fandom. Was a massive Wade fan before the Super Friends Era. Glad he's back home and in a Bulls uniform.

No it would be like if the Lakers refused to pay Kobe, their franchises legend money he deserves.
Especially after all he had given them, all the financial sacrifices he made with nothing but empty promises in return. And then Bryant went home to play for the Sixers, a team he always had a soft spot for since childhood.
Blame that idiot Riley. Heat management forced him out. And to think that stupid contract they gave to a much less deserving Chris Bosh. Meanwhile Wade is still playing and even at times looked vintage dominating in this year's past playoffs.

sorry son I forgot this was the kobe vs lebron forum, silly me.
Here's a kobe bryant brick gif, so we can have a meaningful basketball discussion either way : we can discuss kobe's warrior like will and skill in attempting a shot from half court over a competent defender (because that counts 4 points and it increases the team morale when fighting for a comeback) or how lebron is so much better and doesn't throw possessions away like that and he is so much perfficient.
Doesn't matter if you're a kobe or lebron stan, I got you covered homie.

Wizards
I'm from the DC metro area.
I will root for them even if they win 20 games a year. In fact, when they suck i go to more games because it's cheaper.
I was the dude starting Earl Boykins chants when we were down by 30
I got thrown out of Gilbert Arenas' last home game for being drunk and disorderly.

Charlotte Hornets, because I was born, raised and still live in Charlotte. It doesn't hurt that my favorite player of all time is the owner AND played for my uncle, aunt and two cousins' alma mater. That being said, of course Chicago was my favorite team prior to 1988.
