Don't get me wrong, I still think he is great, but I keep hearing he is still top 5.
If you are picking a player to start your team and you get to pick 5th overall would you really pick the 27yr old Curry over younger players like Townes or a 100% Anthony Davis?
Given what happened in the last 3 games vs Cleveland
he shot 38%, 40%,31.6% respectively. A combined 12 turnovers to 7 assists,
a minus 6,10,3 in plus minus stats.
Even when they won it all, it was Iggy who was the FMVP for his superb defense and clutch shots.
You then factor in the great support of Klay who almost single handedly beat OKC in a game that they probably get eliminated.
How much better is Steph over the super clutch Kyrie
and esp Damian Lillard, who carried his team after LMA defected to the Spurs.

Both Curry and Kyrie were going at it on the biggest stage with the highest expectations and pressure to perform.

One man showed us 40 points on 75% shooting.
It's too bad we will never know how the other man would have done because Silver had to put him into early foul trouble and cause him to play passively.

Still though, based on what we know about finals performance history, I don't think anyone is going to have a finals game that shoots 40 ppg on 75% shooting while having to defer to the 1st option the entire game. For this reason, I don't think anyone touches Kyrie as the current best post season pg in the game and if we aren't putting Kyrie as a top 5 player, then we cannot put Curry as top 5 either.

Why would Curry NOT be top-5 anymore? Underperforming in the Finals doesn't suddenly make 3+ people better than he is

He's 27 and in his prime and honestly may still get better, at least there's a ton of room to improve his post-season play now that he's had to deal with some heavy adversity

As a 1st or 2nd pick on a hypothetical new team, I'd have no issue taking him at all. If he's still available FIFTH? That's a steal

STegh is a weak as$ defender of all time

Kyrie might be top 5 , but Curry is outside 10 looking in.. at best .
I want a PG that plays defense , but not play with his ficking 'A mouthpiece tryin to act cool

Regular season warrior who spams 3's when games don't really matter but shits the bed against tough physical defense (finals) and is a liability on the other end and an average at best play-maker. Shows poor body language when things aren't going his way and displays absolutely no leadership qualities.

Rating: Trash

What, a light weight player like Curry had to be passive on offense did he?

You sound like a loser.

Stop twisting shit and accept he is a regular season hero.

You're a joke if you don't think Steph is a top 3 player. Nothing else needs to be said. :oldlol:

Curry's in his prime and just had two of his best individual seasons b2b, who you got in the league right now that can produce better than him?

You don't draft Towns or Anthony Davis over a b2b MVP who is the GOAT 3PT shooter when neither Towns nor Anthony has played on that level. Towns had a great rookie season but I need to see more from him, Anthony Davis can put up stats but his best year was him getting swept in the 1st round by the Warriors and he's very injury prone.

I'd only draft Lebron and maybe KD over Curry right now. Westbrook is a close 4th but he can't shoot the ball.

Yeah, Curry choked in the Finals but you can't just pick one player over another because of one Playoff series. WCF Curry balled out and brought his team back from down 1 - 3 against KD and Westbrook, averaging 33/7/7 with 47%FG and 47% from 3

and despite his terrible play he still broke the Finals 3pt record

and at age 28 you can expect him to have a couple more great regular seasons

Peak-best player wise, I think Steph is a top 5 PG OF ALL TIME!!:

Magic
Big O
Curry
Westbrook
Isiah

So currently, he' s still a top 4 player in the world with Bron, KD, and Russ. But like AI and Isiah before him, the versatility of the great bigger perimeter players can be the determining factor in a comparison. Many of those guys can play AND defend a minimum of three positions. Some of then can even run the PG AND defend smaller guards very well. So it's not about ability, it OFTEN times comes down to versatility.

Its pretty funny watching biased people pick and choose what to include when making their call.

Regular season hero.

Has shown us nothing in actual big games that mean something.

Damn Lebron must've been absolutely shat on after the 2011 Finals. What was he not even a Top 10 player after that?

It's amazing how many morons we have in this forum, starting with the OP.
