View Full Version : Iran threatened to shoot down US Navy spy planes in the Persian Gulf
[QUOTE]Iran threatened to shoot down two US Navy surveillance aircraft flying close to Iranian territory in the Persian Gulf over the weekend, the latest in a series of recent provocations between Iran and the US military in the region, three US defense officials with knowledge of the incident told Fox News.
On Sept. 10, a Navy P-8 Poseidon with a crew of nine and an EP-3 Eries with a crew of roughly 24, were flying a reconnaissance mission 13 miles off the coast of Iran, in the Strait of Hormuz and Gulf of Oman, according to officials.

Why didn't Obama's billion+ dollar ransom prevent this?

You ARE the disease of the new era.
Your way of thinking is more dangerous than any weapon or group in the world.
what are you actively doing to alleviate the settling in process of the refugees? are you marching in the BLM protests? what are you doing to curb racism and divide?
don't you think that your internet trolling is only fueling more of what you don't like?
do you spend 100% of your time virtue signalling on an internet site?
don't worry, you aren't the only loser here.

I hope OP and these pro military freaks are the first one to fight these battles for the MIC. But nah they'll probably still be posting on ISH on how millennials are such ******* for not fighting.

You're probably right...
Given the evidence, there's no question as to whether or not they're becoming more bold. What do you propose we do about it?
i don't understand the problem
its in America's interest to spy but how can you getting mad at Iran for protecting its sovereignty

International waters extend 12 miles out.
Our plane was 13 miles out. That's why they ignored their threats.

Just like some fakkit nerd flying a drone over my house I'd shoot it down too. However if the planes arent in Iranian sovereign "airspace" they need to stfu and get over it. Maritime boundaries vs Airspace shit that always leads to conflict.

Wouldn't you have a problem if Iranian planes were that close to American territory???? Wouldn't that also come with some sort of "warning or threat"????

How about the US stops violating sovereign territory?

They didn't. Read the OP. Or the thread. Or Google international sovereignty.

I don't know. I doubt it. I don't doubt they'd have a hundred different radar sites monitoring the plane though, with the ability to shoot it down in an instant.
A warning? Maybe. As in 'you are one mile from our territory, don't turn left'.
A threat to shoot them down? No.

Hopefully at some point Pakistan beggins to enforce it's border sovereignty. The murderous obama and bush admins have killed THOUSANDS of innocent people with these death machines. The US military is completely inept.

Why didn't Hillary's incredible Iran deal and Obama's $1,000,000,000 ransom prevent Iran from attacking us?

"you are one mile from out territory, you will be shot down if you turn left"
is that a threat or warning????
Again i don't see how Iran is being an aggressor in this situation. I would expect any country to have a problem with this.
"you are one mile from out territory, you will be shot down if you turn left"

It's a warning.... as in... don't stray to the left or you will be in our territory.
As in... me telling you not to drive drunk. 'Don't do it or bad things will happen'.
Again i don't see how Iran is being an aggressor in this situation. I would expect any country to have a problem with this.
They didn't need to change course... they weren't headed for, or ever in, Iranian territory.
At some point during the flight, the Iranian military warned the two aircraft to change course or risk getting shot down.
The US military planes ignored the warning and continued flying in international airspace, although close to Iranian territory, the officials told Fox.
Then there's this:
Last month, Iranian fast-boats harassed US Navy warships in the Persian Gulf on at least five occasions. One incident resulting in three warning shots being fired from a US Navy coastal patrol craft, when an Iranian vessel ignored repeated radio calls to change course. On another occasion, an Iranian boat stopped 100 yards in front of a US Navy ship forcing it to take evasive maneuvers.
We are taking it like a bitch, too.
Hopefully at some point Pakistan beggins to enforce it's border sovereignty. The murderous obama and bush admins have killed THOUSANDS of innocent people with these death machines. The US leadership is completely inept.
Fixed.
The fact is, the US military is a finely tuned killing machine. The leadership is the problem.

The physical world is a transient phenomenon.
We belong to a particular world of a small segment of time.
Wherever there is existence there is change.
Wherever there is no change, there will be no existence.
Funny. You and your crew derailed the entire OTC.

You are quick to complain about other's threads, but you'll post race baiting shit on the daily. Did I run and complain? No, I simply posted my opinion on the matter. It's easy.
Look, guy, it's real easy; don't read threads you don't want to read. Can you not control your urges? Block me if it'll help you not read what I write...
But at the very least, don't run to the mods and complain some posters make you uncomfortable when you post your own stupid shit on here all the time. I mean, you can if that's just how you roll, but many people look at people like that (you) and despise you for thinking you are above everyone else.
Stop thinking you're special, cause you're not.
Oh, and just so I can post some political shit I know you'll like....
In July, days after the one-year anniversary of the nuclear agreement, Iran attempted at least their fourth ballistic missile test in violation of a UN Security Council resolution tied to the nuclear agreement.
There's our president, acting like a little bitch. Again. People like your dumbass put him into office. Iran doesn't give a **** what he says, and it shows.

Previously you mentioned you seemed fine if American officials "warned" others if the situation was reversed, Iran and no other nation wants to play the "bitch" and would think these type of warning are normal in situations where the countries don't have an established relationship. Again im fine with America doing whats in its interest but im not surprised by Iran's reaction.

Warning someone not to drive drunk for fear for their safety is not the same as warning someone not to drive drunk or you'll get in your car and run them off the road.
I don't how to make it any more clear... Iran ordered our plane to change course or be shot down. They ignored the order, because they didn't need to change course to stay outside of Iranian sovereign territory.
There's a difference between warning you to do something vs warning you not to do something.

I agree, they do kill A LOT of people. Problem is the incompetent garbage kill the wrong people. Disgusting. Not long ago US intelligence and military advisors gave the order for a Saudi drone strike on a goddamn doctors without borders hospital. IN-COM-PE-TENT.

There is nothing wrong with America having a vastly superior military.
The wrong guy has the control.
The problem is that Obama has been willfully creating a divide and shaming americans into believing that nationalism and self preservation is racist.
Iran is about to find out how fcked they are when Trump gets into office. Trump will actually listen to his military advisors and senior staff, not override their decisions and ignore them like Obama does.

Poido, mate... You really shouldn't be so expansive with your posts, you very clearly have ZERO idea what you are talking about. Trump has proposed a non-interventionist foreign policy, which would likely mean not patrolling the water 900m from Iran. Why would they be "fvcked?" He's proposing not doing the things that might lead to a confrontation, silly.
As for America's military, history would beg to differ. The U.S is currently $18T in debt w/ $120T in unfunded liabilities (money they have promised to spend, but have not set aside for). Much of this is caused by having a military budget larger than the next seven countries (China, Saudi Arabia, Russia, UK, India, France, Japan) combined. Most of this is not spent on actual defence (like Israel's missile shield, border wall, armed patrols etc. now that's defence), but rather on relics from the past, for example the large number of troops that are perpetually station in Australia, Japan and Germany (among others) things that have not served a legitimate defencive purpose in 70 years. Not to mention that the US is guarding the South Korean border, despite the South Koreans being perfectly capable of doing the jobs themselves.
You are however, correct in saying that Trump is arguing for an America-first, nationalist foreign policy... That's what non-interventionism is.
I'm pretty sure if UK was born Iranian he'd be the biggest US hater of all time.
But I vote Republican... :confusedshrug:

The problem is our military sucks right now. I have been following the development of our 5th gen fighters because I'm a huge fan of aviation and it fails in comparison to Russia's and China's.
In a recent dogfight between a F-16 and the F35....the F16 dominated it.
The jet is a lemon and we are spending a lot of money to redesign it.
Google and read this failure.
The F22 was a pretty good jet but it can only fight in packs like a pack of wolves to be effective but they ceased production and parts are no longer available. So we basically have a bunch of grounded F22's that we hardly and don't ever use but the technology is still too new and advanced to sell to other countries.
So for those wondering what Trump is referring to when he says our military sucks....he's referring to this new jet, that we are spending 80% of our budget on. I don't know the exact figures but this program is the most expensive and we are not developing anything as of right now besides this jet.

It seems like this is a terrible side-effect of pork barreling. Some Congressman from the third district of West dummyois fights tooth and nail to keep a plant that manufactures some component of an outdated fighter so he can get re-elected. The US WAY overspends for the actual amount of effective defence they have.

That's called politics... and from the DNC leaks, it appears our current administration is pretty good at it...
http://www.military.com/daily-news/2014/12/18/congress-again-buys-abrams-tanks-the-army-doesnt-want.html
The new defense spending bill includes $120 million for tanks that the Army has repeatedly said it doesn't want.
"It's just one example and it's not unique to this year," Harrison said. "In some cases, Congress is using its appropriate role of oversight. In some cases, Congress can act out of purely parochial interests."
The tank debate between the Army and Congress goes back to 2012 when Odierno testified that "we don't need the tanks. Our tank fleet is two and a half years old on average now. We're in good shape and these are additional tanks that we don't need."
Odierno lost then too. Congress voted for another $183 million for tanks despite Odierno's argument that the Army was seeking to become a lighter force. He told the Associated Press at the time that "if we had our choice, we would use that money in a different way" than spending it on 70-ton Abrams tanks.
Where do you think those tanks are manufactured? In someone's district, of course....
