And I think it's a damn shame.

I'm currently at an out of town conference with a bunch of people in my industry and I've broached the subject a few times but never get any replies. I mention the climate for the 90th time or the moves available on the flight over and boom, conversation ensues.

Shaved head while insisting to bring up Donald Trump over and over is not a good look.

My hair is coming in nicely!

And I don't bring up Trump. Only Hillary and Brexit.

Not true, anytime Trump is brought up it's good conversation even though everyone says the same thing about him :oldlol:

But I guess that's what happens when reality tv tries comes into the picture

white supremacy isn't well received in popular culture.

That's because you are at a sales conference bro. One of the first things you learn is to not bring up politics or religion in business because that's the quickest way to alienate someone - especially if you have strong opinions.

People just want to network, have fun and learn shit that will help them make money in their career. The last thing I would want to do is to listen to some schlub give his opinions on topics he knows nothing about. And that's not a personal attack, it's just the general reality.

people in real life don't really have the desire to hear what uk2k saw on breitbart this morning or 9er's opinion on social issues he doesn't understand

Really?

I hear people talk about it a lot.

Lots of people laugh at Trump's candidacy (don't flame, this is an observation) and lots of people loathe the thought of Hillary as president.

Most people who loathe Hillary are of the opinion that Obama has ruined the country.

thats your problem. you have an ulterior motive in bringing up the topic of politics. people can sense it so they brush you off. you do understand humans are intuitive right? its not that people dont talk about politics, its that they dont want to talk politics with a person like you.

I feel like it's only kept secret in the business world and it should be tbh. You'll be viewed differently the minute people know who you're voting for.

TBH I already view Trump supporters as being less intelligent, or just immature. You wouldn't want fellow employees or even your boss thinking that, you'll never get out of it.

The Trump supporters think the same of the anti Trump crowd.

It works both ways.

The falsely accused 'far right' have been demonised by the media/government leaning left.

If the government was pushing a Donald Trump America, I think a lot of the easily brainwashed people in America's society would see things a lot differently.

Times change. America has suffered a president who has created this divide and has painted nationalism as racist.

talking about politics in public is socially frowned upon (in most cases), specially in a professional setting.

It creates conflict, distrust, animosity, disrupts the work space, etc.

Nobody really cares what your opinions on politics or religion are, nobody wants to hear them. This is the case for everyone regardless of which view you have.

Just to practice:

Let's say you do start talking about politics to a co-worker, that person then states how much they hate Trump and they feel Trump supporters are a bunch of racist/bigot/idiots. How would that make you feel? that will create some sort of animosity or at the very least make you resentful of that person. Now let's say this person was someone you really liked and enjoyed working with, now those feelings might be gone because you view this person differently.

Now, say you bring up an issue but don't know that the co-worker you're talking too is affected by it, say immigration. You've now offended this co-worker and he/she does not want to deal with you. They even go the extra mile in complaining to management. Now management pulls you to the side to talk to you. You're now seen in a negative light by your co-workers and management, some may have respected you in the past but now see you in a negative light.

Those and many other reasons are why people shouldn't talk about politics at work.

Politics and religion are wedge issues that create conflict.

They 'usually' don't lead to any serious issues, but they do change people's perception on one another. But there have been instances that things do get bad and at times could be extreme.

So social commentary, politics, religion are usually recommended against in the workplace.

And honestly to be real with you, since you are a Trump supporters I highly recommend that you don't talk about social/political/religious issues at all.

Thanks the wikileaks and all these leaks they are socially acceptable to talk about. The leaks is not a political opinion but fact.

Where I work, no one is excited about their options...

On Hillary it's "she is a liar and corrupt".

On Trump it's "f*ck Trump, he's a bigot and an idiot clown".

Worst presidential election ever.

You need to learn more about Trump and get to know your new president.

This amount of denial is not healthy

When people don't want to talk about politics, I just interpret it as fear of speaking out.

Poido, you're a dope.

I know you despise Hillary and you're entitled to your opinion (as irrelevant as it is since you have no voice in OUR affairs) but if you legit think Trump is better, then all I could say is I feell sorry for you.
