Is this worth buying?

I don't do a whole lot of crazy shit with my Xbox... I play games and watch Sunday Ticket and that's about it.

I'm going to go to Gamestop to pre-order BF1, and I saw they had these, and I thought it looked pretty sweet.

But other than looks, what's the reason for buying one? Am I missing something?

I think I can help you out here.

Step 1. Sell Xbox One
Step 2. Buy Ps4

All set!

I have a laptop that's maybe, 8 years old... solely so I can play old school computer games.

He probably will sell his Xbox for amphetamines.

I'll be buying it. Better hardware = games run better. BF1 will definitely be one of those games.

Trying to wait for the first price cut, however.

Unless you're completely against pc gaming...getting an xbox is pointless...all the games are on PC anyway. Just wait for ps4 pro and get that when it comes out.

Gaming PC> consoles. Even getting laptops now would be better since they have slightly underclock desktop gpus in there now.

But this is how it's going to go down with consoles in terms of power:

Project Scorpio > PS4 pro> PS4> Xbox one S> Wii U

If you want a console right now, I suggest wait for the PS4 pro. It'll be the most powerful console until Scorpio comes out. Get a PC if you want the X-Box games, most of them are on the PC anyway.

If you REALLY want an xbox and if you are patient, wait until Project Scorpio comes out.

Is that supposed to be VR?

I used to play on consoles a lot, but partly because of my education (I have to use GIS software that requires big videocards) I bought a gaming laptop two years ago. I am completely hooked on PC gaming now and would never revert back to console gaming anymore.

I always advise people to, instead of buying a mediocre pc/laptop and a console separately (what a lot of people do, and what I used to do), to use that money to buy a nice PC that can run modern games on high settings. Why buy two separate mediocre pieces of hardware, when you can combine them in one nice piece of hardware for about the same amount of money?

yep, pc gaming is superior in all aspects. plus, pc components are relatively cheap nowadays that you can afford a good gaming pc.

Only because most of my friends don't have PC's.

Very rarely do I ever play single player games unless it's really, really early in the morning or I just feel like being anti-social.

In which case most of the single player games I play are ollldddd. Empire Total War. AOE2. Banished is a fun one. Anno 1701.

It's going to try to support high end VR and 4k gaming. It's going to be more powerful than the PS4 Pro. So, if you really want an X-Box, get that I guess.

On the technique side I forgot how many teraflops it has. I think 6 or something while PS4 pro is 4? It's based upon AMD. It might be around the RX480 level of performance for PC. We don't know tho. It might have some CPU bottleneck issues too.
