I don't understand why Trump picked him, honestly. The only possible explanation I can think of was he was attempting to shore up the far right conservative vote.

But I'm not religious. I don't have any issues with gay marriage; I support abortion (to a point), and am all for birth control. So I am not your typical Republican.

As for my thoughts on him.... meh. People get so worked up about politics but realistically no matter who your elected official is, you probably won't notice a change in your life (except for Obamacare). Gay marriage was illegal? Cool. Gay marriage is legal? Cool. It doesn't affect me one way or the other.

His approval rating in this state is low because of the religious freedom law he tried to pass. That pissed off 1/4 of the state. Then, he went back on the law and toned it down, which pissed off another 1/4 of the state who supported the law and did nothing to gain approval from the original 1/4 he pissed off.

So now his approval rating sits at about 50%. But I do see quite a few pro-Pence signs around Indianapolis, although most of those are posted in larger yards, a dozen or so miles from the city center.

All that being said, that's probably why I won't vote; Trump will carry Indiana by a wide margin. Vote or not, it won't make any difference.
